Some you may know, but others may be unaware that the first charges of made against abusive parents were made under the guise of 'animal cruelty'.

Did you mean this post for me? I made the comment that you quoted.

< Allowing ONE medical choice to be made by a child - abortive choice - for a child that is not known, cared for, or understood by an organization and it's followers, is not protecting the individual girl - but a right.>

Yes it is. I know you and I will not reach agreement on this, but it really is protecting the pregnant girl.

The same laws that prevent my kids doctor from telling me she is having an abortion are the ones that will make her feel safe going in for prenatal care while she is deciding how to best tell me. It isn't just about abortion. my kids can get STD testing without my knowledge as well which is better than DYING of embarassment

Ok, let me see if I can put it another way...

Obviously, when faced with two choices, there is always one that is more right for the person faced with making the choice. While uprooting your life in order to gestate z/e/f might be the right decision for you, it certainly wasnt for me. By you implying that I should have done that, it indicated you feel that would have been the right choice for me to make.

So my question is, why are you so certain that that was and is the right choice for women whose situations you are not in?

Sorry, but I believe more children in good homes, with good families, and good communication will be harmed without parental consent by choosing to forgo parental involvment to save face and not hurt/disapoint their parents than girls will be helped by not having to go to parents.

I'd consider any parent who forced a young girl or teen to EITHER continue gestating and give birth against their will or to ABORT against their will to be domineering, controlling and grossly abusive mentally, physically, psychologically and spiritually; not only violating their rights but doing so with a perverted sense of "care". Just my opinion.

If our children have STD's, you don't think as a parent we should know so that we can better educate, protect (offer condoms and bc pills), and find out where and when our child is having time to have sex and work on our parenting failings as to better parent our children?

That's the problem.

That was SO well put put Misa. The preservation of the trust in a medical profession in times of need is much, much more important than a parent's perceived right to control their daughter's reproductive choices.

I'll answer this, since I *am* this mother:

"You don't think that maybe a working mother, raising her child alone, who believes her daughter is at the library studying or at a friends house hanging out should know that her daughter is at 'Billie's' house getting stoned and screwing him and some of his friends?

In a perfect world yes but often that guarantee of privacy is the only reason they are willing to go. I have spent HOURS arguing with the age group you mentioned trying to persuade them to go get tested. I had to swear on things I never swore on before to get them to believe me that the clinic was not going to call their mom the second they walked out the door. Guess what those I could not convince never went. they still had sex but they did so not knowing if they were sharing diseases or not.
