Hello! I'm new to this board. I am a very passionate prolifer and not for religious reasons. I wasn't sure if any of you had heard or seen this film before. It is very moving to say the least. I was able to find it on youtube. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THS2zZ4m260. I hope it works. I would love to hear feedback if you watch it! Thanks!

Yes, mine was horrible, too. The student used a speculum that was far larger than necessary and when it didn't fit, he tried to jam it in. The pap smear (just the pap smear) took a half-hour. It was the second pap smear I had ever received.

And my doctor now wonders why I think the procedure is such a non-issue. A three-minute pap smear is a walk in the park by comparison.

*hangs head, dying of shame for my awkward, insensitive, and poorly trained colleagues*
Part of competence is knowing when to ask for help. Geez.

Oh, I tried to take it with humor. I think I was 19-20 and he was probably 22 or 23. He was so nervous and was apologizing every other second. I was cracking jokes as often as possible (as is my way when I'm nervous) and he was blushing as red as his hair. I suppose he could have had a far worse patient for a first time. Still, the next year, when the NP stuck her head in, I asked if she had any medical students with her. She said no, and I breathed a sigh of relief.

LOL at I am relaxed.

I have never been told to relax. I HAVE been told to quit laughing though. Once the guy doing my pap farted. It was a big loud one. So I started laughing and the specuthingy falls out from my laughing so hard. Now when I get the giggles I get the giggles and there is NO stopping them. 10 mins later I am still lying in stranded beetle position laughing and he cant get the speculum (sp?) back in because my whole body is shaking with laughter. Eventually he left and another doc came in but that just started me all over again.

It was almost 45 mins before they could finally get it done and I still snickered the whole way through

Maybe I am a little too relaxed lol

*winces and crosses legs*

This is why I will only ever allow a woman to do a smear test on me. If you haven't got one, you don't know what it feels like to have it winkled open like an oyster!

Not to say that there aren't perfectly well-trained male gyns out there. I'm just prejudiced when it comes to this.

One of my friends who recently started working at Planned Parenthood was given "overtime" the other week when she signed up to let med students practice doing PAPS on her. She had 10 or so in 2 hours.

*Crosses legs as well* lol.

OMG! Your poor friend! Does that mean she won't need a pap for at least 10 years now???? My vahjayjay now hurts very much badly just thinking about that....
