Hello! I'm new to this board. I am a very passionate prolifer and not for religious reasons. I wasn't sure if any of you had heard or seen this film before. It is very moving to say the least. I was able to find it on youtube. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THS2zZ4m260. I hope it works. I would love to hear feedback if you watch it! Thanks!

For me, it's unnecessary to vaccinate against HPV with this vaccine, it's not effective enough.

I agree with you too much hype not enough REAL info.

I Was at Ethan's school one day waiting to get him and the girls were lined up to get theirs. One girl was really upset and nervous and claimed getting a needle was ruining her birthday (i can understand that feeling) and the nurse came out and said "what better B-day present could you get than never having to worry about cervical cancer"

I lost it. IN front of the students teachers and everyone within ear shot. Basically told her she had no right to lie to those girls and provide them with a false sense of security. The fact that she didn't know that it did NOT guarantee someone would not get cancer meant she was uninformed and ignorant and should not be allowed to treat naive children. Or worse yet if she know the difference and was lying to them to get them to do what she wanted she had no business being in the health care industry period. It went on from there until teh principal came and told me I had to keep my vioce down at which point I turned on him.

I am sure there is a note in Ethan's file somewhere that says his mother is a psychotic know it all but ..........

If I thought this was an isolated incident I would not be as concerned but really I hear people say crap like that every time the vaccine is brought up.

Ugh, I would have been INSANE with frustration and anger!

Another fear I have is that young girls and women will forgo their annual exams thinking they are *safe* with this vaccine.

"In the US it's advertised as the super vaccine that prevents cervical cancer, which in general is true, but if one were to do more research they'd find it doesn't really cover all that much."

I wish.

"You can say that again. It really pees me off that some people are actually against vaccinating girls from this stupid virus."

I'm not against the vaccine, but I am against the fact that the company has a virtual monopoly on the distribution of it, and that the government is helping to cement that monopoly. I got just as mad at Myriad Genetics charging $2,500 per test for the breast cancer gene.

Maybe young women, but I don't know about girls. Do you remember getting your MMR shot in high school and saying to yourself, "Great! Now I can be exposed to Rubella!" Or getting your DPT shot and saying, "Rusty nails, here I come!"

I do agree that the vaccine is touted as a cure-all, though, and I don't like it. I am one of the extremely fortunate few who have never had an STI (if you don't count occasional yeast infections or UTI's), but I know full well they're nothing to be trifled with.
