a spin on the "innocent" position..

I've seen and heard it mentioned that a f/z/e is an innocent and should have all the same rights as an actual living child. But for the anti-abortion crowd (because, and I will make this clear as a precedent for all of my future posts - I refuse to call you pro lifers, as I am not anti life by merely supporting the choice to abortion), I would like to pose a question -

Why is wrong for a woman to choose to abort a fetus (for reasons you may never know, understand or comprehend), but it is acceptable for a government to bomb innocent civilians, among which are not only live children - but innocent women pregnant with innocent fetus'? I mean, if EVERY SINGLE life is so sacred and precious and deserves a chance, how on earth or heaven or what have you, would you justify that? To a woman aborting, a real decision goes into the process. To a government bombing, a pregnant woman who dies is just another body count. And she would be counted as one, not two. Interesting.

Tangential, but:

If anyone even bothered to count her. After all, no-one knows how many Iraqis have died since we went in.

Did you hurt yourself in the leap you made to assume that one who is again elective abortion thinks it is ok to bomb innocents?

Think about it, the PC side gets mad when people make sweeping generalizations about their views on things so why not show the same courtesy elsewhere? Personally I don't find civilian death acceptable although I will admit it is sometimes unaviodable

I understand that line of thinking, but it's also just not correct. There have been several instances of specifically and intentionally

"There have been several instances of specifically and intentionally targeting civilians in order to demoralize the enemy and win a battle or a war."

Yep, that's exactly what Saddam did to the Kurds. Or wait, maybe it was ethnic cleansing...hmm, but regardless, you're right, there are evil people who set out to target civilians. The United States Armed Forces are NO such entity.

Are you honestly arguing that the U.S. has NEVER purposefully targeted civilians? I won't argue that that is our intention going into a conflict, but it's incredibly naive to believe we never have done such a thing. We dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima during WWII.

Hey stranger :o)

But weren't Nagasaki and Hiroshima prime examples of targeting civilians in order to end a war quickly? Similarly, we (the UK) flattened Dresden largely to demoralise the enemy.
