...what are your thoughts on it?

I was actually pleasantly surprised that they really didn't force any sort of viewpoints on the viewers.

Consider the torch passed. I'm genuinely horrified that the women who came before us, who were beaten and jailed and horribly mistreated in the struggle, are spoken of as if they were nothing and accomplished nothing.

Not once have I said you should bow/scrape/worship feminists, nor have I said that they are your creator.

I have pointed out that without feminism, you would be missing a big chunk of the rights that you currently enjoy. And I think that your attitude towards the women who gave you these rights sucks.

Do I think you ought to give them some respect? Yep. But worship? No.

I never said they didn't help bring it to light and help laws pass but are they solely responsible? no.

<>

That is crap the woman who started Dv shelters just so happened to be a feminist.

<>

you told me every right I have is by leave of a feminist solely and absolutely, not that they helped, not that they made an improvement no that i owe my very existence to them. that is the impression you leave me with sorry but I truly think that is what you said if not then you should be clearer.

As a black woman it covers me and about 10 % of the population of the country you claim to know sooo much about.

<>

Did you mean to prove her point in your retaliation sentence? Because that's exactly what you did. She says "there wouldn't have BEEN a DV shelter for her to work at" if not for feminists, and then you say "the woman who started DV shelters ... happened to be a feminist." So without a feminist, by your own words, the shelters that your mother worked at wouldn't be around. So what are you trying to debate now? How to change your stance mid-sentence?

LOL! Obviously you don't realise that you have actually confirmed my point, rather than proving it wrong.

Not every right, but most of them. And not 'by leave', but through activism and struggle.

I've got a better idea - how about you read what I actually write, and then your impressions will be clearer.

Again, it dealt with BLACK education, not FEMALE education. The topic at hand is women's rights and feminism, therefore it is the FEMALE part of the equation that is relevant here. The fact that you also happen to be black isn't particularly germane to the discussion.

And I actually didn't claim to know 'sooo much about' America, but about the history of women's rights.

Fine. Link to the post where I said you should bow/scrape/worship feminists. I'll wait.

Ok, so you think the white guys in office would just have decided all by themselves to give black people and women equal rights? Without anyone fighting for it, marching, protesting, or anything like that?

And even that, you aren't willing to give.

You really do like putting words in my mouth, don't you? I said they gave you a good number of the RIGHTS you enjoy. I don't think you need to thank them for last night's sunset.

If you want to think that everything you had you got by yourself, knock yourself out. It is so far from the fact as to be laughable, but hey, I'm always up for a giggle.

No Im not changing my stance mid sentence I made a point of saying it was one woman who started them not a movement.
