Hey All,

What does everyone think of Amendment 48 in Co?

It would ban hormonal birth control and most abortions.

Here's a pro site:

1) Amendment 48 allows government interference in the doctor-patient relationship and could limit the exercise of independent medical judgment. The measure could restrict a doctor from using certain medical procedures and treatments. Furthermore, the measure may subject medical professionals to legal action for providing medical care to a woman of child-bearing age if it is determined to affect another "person."

Yeah, so a cancer victim is not supposed to have their treatment including chmeo and radiation to protect their pg??? How short sided can this be? :((

2) Amendment 48 may limit the ability of individuals to make private, personal choices about their lives and health. The measure could be used to limit access to abortions and to prohibit medical care, including emergency contraception, commonly used forms of birth control, and treatments for cancer, tubal pregnancies, and infertility. The amendment may restrict some stem cell research that could lead to life-saving therapies for a variety of disabilities and illnesses.

exactly, I don't think something like this would pass but it would be interesting to see how many of the people who would vote for it had procedures such as invitro...

Since the Amendment categorizes a "person" from the "time of conception" then *any* female of child bearing ability (menstruating) that is sexually active, is open to scrutiny based on this amendment.

Just thought I'd let you know....with 86% of the votes counted, 73% have voted no and 27% have voted yes. I'm glad that it looks like this amendment will not pass.

Why do you say that? Do you know that I'm a woman? A mother of 3 dd's and grandmother of 2 granddaughters?
