Yes, a baby feels the pain. If that offends you... sorry... your belief most likely offends me.

Um yes, a baby feels pain.

But a first trimester embryo does *NOT*.

I know there's someone here who can post reams of studies on pain in embryos/fetuses....hopefully she will :)

Oh come on... it's a debate board... if you don't want to read someone else's view, you shouldn't even be on this board... sorry we don't see eye to eye.... I have nothing to discuss... you can talk to God when you meet Him face to face. I seriously dont mean to be harsh, I really don't ... but this is black and white to me and I will never be convinced otherwise, so please don't waste your time trying with me. Just being honest. I know that sounds offensive (especially if you don't believe in God)... but truth is truth whether we chose to believe it or not.

Doesn't matter if you post back or not... I really have nothing else to say or else it's not a debate... it's an argument.

Think about the zygote, embryo or fetus all you want. But you have no right restricting another woman's rights to autonomously and privately administer her own health care.
But in all seriousness, I think it's really creepy that people out there are so interested in other women's reproductive organs. Cause to *get* to that z/e/f, you have to get through a vagina, cervix and uterus.

Their reason to abort is not only not your business, it's IRRELEVANT to the basis for their right to do so. The right to choose to abort is based on the right a woman will always have to choose the set of risks she wishes to assume.

And I don't see a *child* until after birth.

<<"Out of curiosity, do you think abortion should be allowed in the case of rape?"

Nope. Adoption will be my only "choice".>>

Wow. I would NEVER submit to gestating the fetal by-product of a violent rape of my body. Now way! I would carve it out myself, if need be. There is no way my body would nourish the progeny of a rapist.

Amen to that!!!

I really feel like it is a goal of the prolife movement to give full legal rights to the z/e/f. Two people cannot have equal legal rights over the same body!!

So in doing such you are allowing the government to control pregnant woman from conception to the birth. If anything happens in between be it miscarriage or still birth...well now you have a potential murder investigation

Well, that's your opinion. But that is, how shall I put it, cruel to make such a decision for another woman.

So, what makes you qualified to seek legislation on this front? Years of medical training? Time spent as a counselor in an abortion clinic? Your tenure as an OB/GYN?

I only ask because you speak with such vehemence that would be credible only in someone qualified to advise a federal government to make such a decision.

"we have the CHOICE TO HAVE SEX"

And yet, women who do not want to become pregnant do not always have the easy choice of constant abstinence either. I did not want to become pregnant immediately after marriage, and yes I used contraception consistently and correctly, but that does not mean that I should not have had sex with my husband for the 9 years it took us to be ready to have a child. Such an action is grounds for divorce in most places.
