consider abortion justified? I'm pretty new to this board so please forgive me if I'm asking a question recently posed.

For the pro life side is there EVER a time when you would morally justify an abortion?

For the pro choice side. Ever a time when you believe an abortion should NOT be an option?

Well, I can only answer for when an abortion would be right for ME. I think that is pretty much the key. I would never try to convince another person to have one. For example, I made the choice to have one at 19 when I was utterly incapable of being a mother to child. Dh and I made the choice together, although we were not married at the time. Now that I have 3 children, and I have had my tubes tied, I don't think that there is a reason that I would have one, short of my health, and the health of the potential child. I can name lots of reasons why I wouldn't have one. That being said, I believe in my soul that only the woman carrying the potential child can make the final decision of whether or not to continue a pregnancy.

Your friend is pro-choice, plain and simple. She believes the choice lies with the pregnant woman, regardless of her own feelings on the decision they may make. That is the essence of pro-choice.

Do I think there's a time when abortion shouldn't be an option? I guess that's something that depends on circumstances. I might draw a line at viability, but then if a doctor believed an abortion were medically necessary to save the mother's life after viability, well, who am I to argue?

I've had some interesting discussions with a friend who is prolife - but also pro-choice. What? The two can't coexist you say? Think again. They do. She's absolutely against abortion - thinks it's absolutely reprehensible - BUT - she also believes the choice should be available for all women to have access to medically safe abortion. While she thinks abortion is horrible - she also is horrified at the thought of what would happen if women were forced to seek illegal abortions even more.

Pro-choice here...

When it comes to legislation or restrictions, I don't believe there is a time when an abortion should not be allowed.

Hey :o)

I believe elective abortion should not be an option post-viability. IMO once past that point, abortion should only be available if medically necessary. I include fetal defects, maternal health and of course maternal life in that category.

My turn.

I really struggle with this. I really, really, really want it to be a decision no one ever has to make. I can't imagine how difficult it is. I am OK up to viability. I struggle with any after and would need to see a compelling argument as to why it was necessary. BUT I am not in the position to demand that so I have to accept it isn't my beeswax.

I think abortion is morally justified if it would cause the mother loss of life of cause enough grevious bodily harm that were it another sentient human being posing the same threat she could legally respond with deadly force.

I also think abortion is a moral option when the fetus is severely disabled and will have little to no quality of life. Basically if I would be behind euthanasia for a born human being I am ok with it for a fetus.

That pretty much sums it up
