One of the least known consequences of having an abortion is the regret, sadness and depression that many women feel afterward.

Really? In my own experience, 80% are quite content with the choice they made to abort. I'll have to send them the memo.

Also- anti-choice feminists is a total oxymoron, IMNSHO.

I'm sure that there are plenty of women who made the choice to abort and later came to regret that decision.

Welcome to the board :)

I've no doubt that some women regret having aborted, just as some regret raising children, or regret placing a child for adoption, etc.. Some also regret having been on hormonal birth control (which also can end "life").

I hope that you stick around, share your stance with us, participate in the threads, etc. :)

There's a word missing in the title. Some. As in 'SOME women regret abortion forever'.

There are also plenty who forever after think it was the right decision to make.

A friend of mine wishes she had aborted instead of gestating & giving up for adoption.

Hope springs eternal ;o)

So can the regret over having children. All choices can lead to regret so that seems like a silly reason to take away the choice.

Some days (heck most) I regret the heroic measures we took to try and save our youngest (and I am not the only one in that boat) so would that be a good reason to not allow other women to have that choice?

According to actual medical research, these women are rare.

There are soldiers that suffer an actual, medically recognized condition known as PTSD, and regret their time in the military. Does that mean military service is bad for everyone?

There are those that enter into abusive or otherwise emotionally damaging marriages, and regret their decision. Does that mean marriage is bad?

There are those who are forever traumatized by giving a child up for adoption - to the extent that many are rendered unable to conceive. Does that mean relinquishing a child for adoption should be banned?

I wonder if FFL is willing to recognize that there are many women out there for whom abortion is a relief, not a long-term burden. Tell me, where are their stories told?
