Breastfeeding from the Breast Only?

I've never posted here or even read your board before. I usually post at another web site (did awhile back, no longer do) but the lady I usually talk with isn't responding, maybe she isn't there any longer either. So I'm coming to you to ask for help. I thought any of you, in particular maybe MacBump after reading some of your stuff, could help.

I need research, documentation, studies that relate to breastfeeding straight from the source, never allowing artificial means to give the milk (cups, bottles, etc). The benefits, the why's a mother would choose to do this. Not only the benefits just of the milk but benefits to this outside of nutritional value/the milk itself.

I did this. I'm being questioned about the studies. I no longer have the information as I toss every thing once I read it, I'm done with it. I don't keep anything (my dh fusses, that is another debate in itself).

Thanks.

I'll see if I can come across any actual STUDIES but it seems obvious to me that the reasons for choosing to EBF without ANY artificial nipples etc. are:

-no chance of nipple confusion, thus less chance of early weaning.

-bottles/paci's can alter the shape of the mouth, making orthodontia required.

-direct at the source means the infant's mouth with bacteria/viruses will make the mom make more antibodies, & antibodies of the right kind (ie the kind the infant is currently fighting).

-there is the "bonding" aspect. some believe it, some don't...not sure what the studies say exactly tho.

-there is always some (even if it's slight) chance of contamination from outside sources (bacteria) when giving milk in another vessle.

there are probably more...i'll try & think of some & look for ref's.
