Commitment, or lack thereof...

So I just saw something somewhere else (won't specify where, but I bet a few of you will figure it out!) where a woman indicated that she WAS planning on breastfeeding, but now because of a heated debate about it, she doesn't want to anymore.

Ummmmm, are you kidding me?

No, LOL.

Exercise is good. Breastfeeding is good. Breastfeeding and exercise are analogous.

Even though all the health care agencies tell us to breastfeed and exercise, we don't all do it. Most of us do OK in spite of the lack of BF/exercise, but in the long run we're better off if we do. Just because we don't BF and/or exercise, doesn't mean we're bad people. BF like exercise is what our bodies are designed to do. Both BF and exercise affect all kinds of body systems including physical development and emotions.

>>not all women feel that formula is risky to an infant<<

You can't believe or not believe anything you want, the moon is made of cheese, the world is flat, the Easter Bunny is real, but it doesn't change the reality.

Agreed.

I think in our messed-up culture, putting sexualty before function creates much of the problem people have with breastfeeding.

Song of solomon was written in the land of egypt - hardly "western" at the time of its writing.

Sorry, but the fact that you can't thing of a culture that doesn't sexualize the breasts doesn't really mean much to me in terms of this debate. You can do your own research. The fact that the vast majority of cultures do not sexualize the breasts has been discussed numerous times on this board.

I was thinking in the time frame of when we can actually tell how breast were treated - so that typically would be from the time of writings (I guess we can go further back to primitive story tellings and sculptings - but even from some clay sculptures you can see both the treatment of sexuality and funcitionality of breast).

I am sure bm with dairy proteins is better than formula with whole milk proteins.
