Commitment, or lack thereof...

So I just saw something somewhere else (won't specify where, but I bet a few of you will figure it out!) where a woman indicated that she WAS planning on breastfeeding, but now because of a heated debate about it, she doesn't want to anymore.

Ummmmm, are you kidding me?

Another friend here, although that whole natural child birth thing, they should just name them pain filled or pain free.

I had an epi (and gas and air and narcotics) with Crispin's birth and I'm fairly sure it contributed to him being sleepy and reluctant to nurse. Do I regret it? Absolutely. Am I angry that due to poor advice, dodgy hospital procedures and a lack of support I didn't get the birth my baby and I deserved? You bet'cha. Do I feel guilty? Not so much.

Question for the natural birthing moms...

Did anyone of you experience contractions in your legs? The one thing I remember about giving birth to DD was the pain that shot down my legs (mostly my outer thighs) whenever I had a contraction. I hadn't planned on a natural birth, so I did get an epidural. I just remember that the reason I wanted the epidural was because I just couldn't stand those sensations in my legs, even though the contractions weren't too bad at that point. Is that a normal part of labor, or maybe a reaction to the pitocin?

I'm considering natural birth this time. I want to go in with eyes wide open though.

Hmmmm, no leg pain in the pitocin birth for me (but I called for the epi after a few hours).

During Crispin's birth I too just lay there making tiny, ladylike whimpers. Even with every pain med known to man that birth was still painful and exhausting. When I had Ferdi I discovered that getting on hands and knees and roaring as loud as I could helped enormously and his fast, intense, unmedicated birth was about a million times easier. I wonder how much childbirth pain comes from suppressing the noises and movements we want to make. In hospital having Crispin I was tense and inhibited, at home having Ferdinand I was a lot more relaxed.
