Commitment, or lack thereof...

So I just saw something somewhere else (won't specify where, but I bet a few of you will figure it out!) where a woman indicated that she WAS planning on breastfeeding, but now because of a heated debate about it, she doesn't want to anymore.

Ummmmm, are you kidding me?

It almost sounds like your contractions were messing with a nerve, or something! That is really weird! I never had any leg pains like that during labor. Was the baby turned in a funny position, maybe?

I'd forgotten that but yes I did have pain radiating down my thighs during the most intense contrax.

I did have a bad bout with sciatica for about a week. It was different sensations, though. The sciatica was more in my hip and shot down the back of my right leg. The leg pain during labor was more the outer thighs and in both legs simultaneously.

Oh, I definitely think relaxation is the key to labor! LOL!!! That is the number one lesson in the Bradley method. Don't suppress anything, but be relaxed, keep breathing (I think a lot of moms try to hold their breath during contractions which makes it hurt way worse, IME!) and find a position that is comfortable for you! In the hospital everyone is running around making you feel so tense, and sometimes you are chained to the bed with IV's and monitors and you can't move around how you would like--I think that contributes to how much pain a woman feels during labor, KWIM?

The whole lying on the back thing can't be helpful either.

I had a failed epi with my first and I had the leg pain. That was probably the worst part of the birth! However, she was sunny side up. When she turned the leg pain (and most of the back pain) went away. I did have pit with both of mine. I just thought that I was a real big wimp with my first because I didn't know that the epi had failed. I was going to go natural with my second but they used cytotech becuase she was in distress and it hyperstimulated my uterus (literally 9 minute long contractions with about 10 seconds in between them) and ended up getting the epi so I could stay awake through the c-section, however the shot of brethine only normalized my labor instead of stopping it so no section and Gianna popped out shortly after with the cord wrapped twice around her neck...The epi with Gianna was WONDERFUL!!!!

I literally could not make noise during them. I woke up at 8:00 am and was at the beginning of one and Gianna's monitor was slowing and slowing and I needed to scream to get Jeff or the nurse (Jeff was sleeping) to check the monitor to see why she was decelling, but all I could do was hold onto the bed rails. Finally I was able to scream for Jeff as the nurse came running in....those were the scariest 5 minutes of my life. It was a bad labor but it only lasted 2 hours and 17 minutes....Aria was 26 hours 12 with pit with a failed epi...grrr

Oh and the sewing up without medication....holy crap did that hurt!
