Commitment, or lack thereof...

So I just saw something somewhere else (won't specify where, but I bet a few of you will figure it out!) where a woman indicated that she WAS planning on breastfeeding, but now because of a heated debate about it, she doesn't want to anymore.

Ummmmm, are you kidding me?

Sure he'll STTN. When he's a teen and you need him UP at 5 am for something. ;-)

DD1 didn't STTN well or reliably until around 4. Then she still didn't always b/c of bedwetting. It's been about a year since she last wet the bed and she does STTN 99.9% of the time now. If she doesn't, it's usually about a headache...I can forgive that one night out of many. :-)

I've known moms who have pumped while driving. Personally I couldn't do it b/c my letdowns were always obnoxiously uncomfortable (to the point of being painful early on) and would drive me to distraction which would be unsafe on the road. But if that isn't their problem perhaps it's not so bad.

Just FYI this is a HUGE no-no, nursing a rear-facing infant while in their baby bucket or RFing carseat. :-(

A baby carseat has a maximum weight rating on it for rear-facing use. It might be 20, 22, 30, 33, 35#...depends on the brand. It WILL NOT stand up to the extra added weight of a mother, even if *some* of that weight is absorbed by her own seatbelt (and not all of it will be) leaning over the seat. If you weigh say 110 lbs (I have no idea ok? ;-)) and your upper torso weighs like 60 lbs and your seatbelt holds back some of that but still will stretch somewhat in an impact (that's what they are supposed to do) and you fly forward a bit, your weight will not only make the carseat fail, it will probably squash your child. I did this too once or twice when Sandrine was a baby, I fully admit it, but when I learned just how dangerous it was, I stopped. Never did it with Nyssa and don't plan on doing it ever again. If we need to stop we'll stop and nurse. :-)

We crossed the country by car when DD1 was 5.5 and DD2 was not quite 3. We stopped more often than twice in any given day, but we routinely were gone from 9 am until 9-10 pm on the road. I would do it again. It wasn't without stresses but we so totally saw interesting things too. ;-)

"Aahh, yes, this is the second one I started reading, and did not finish it. :("

From what little I did read of that one (I got I and II) his true colors had really started to show.
