Do most FFing parents know powdered infant formulas are not commercially sterile products? How much of a risk is a E. sakazakii infection? Is it only a risk to premature and low-weight babies? According to the WHO article below, "infants under 2 months of age are at greatest risk."

I don't remember seeing any post where anyone (not just thistle) claimed that ENed kids NEVER have ANY negative outcome.

That wouldn't make sense.

Maybe we are interpreting something differently.

No. I would "admit" that some children may encounter others who have negative things to say about EN. But that does not necessarily translate to a "negative outcome" for the EN child. It has a lot to do with how the child has been taught to handle such bullying.

Yep. Why is this a point of debate in the first place? You don't know me or my friends.

I use diapers too Mary! I might not if I lived out in the fields and could hold Tristan away from my body when he started peeing/etc. ;-) but at home...I mostly have him in a diaper (but no waterproof cover) so I can know when he pees but I'm not constantly mopping it up. I don't catch all his pees but I do still catch a fair number. We are actually getting into a cool morning routine WRT pee: he stirs around 6-6:30 and is still really "asleep" so I get his diaper off, sit him on the toilet and he "wakes up" (sorta...looking around) and pees and I put his diaper back on (if it's dry which it is more and more often) and put him back in my bed next to me, and he turns towards the side barrier (one of those toddler sides with a mesh insert), cuddles his blanket and goes back to sleep with me rubbing his back pretty much immediately. He did it *again* at 7:30 this morning (after having done it at 6:30) and didn't nurse to go back to sleep *then* either, and just nursed when he actually got up at 8:30!! ~:-o

It makes me wonder if iVillage has to allow more formula-sided posts to stay up *just* because they get some of their money from formula advertising...

She probably lives in a very family-oriented area of hippie California or something. ;-)
