<, It allows them to justify bf'ing longer than the child needs bm and into years where it can be downright damaging.>>
Now there's an assertion that you are going to have to back up. Thank you in advance.
<<Don't you think formula use became just as common in the 1950s?
<<Are you saying that breastfed babies are also at risk for the illnesses on Deb's long list? >>
First of all, it wasn't Deb's list. It was the AAP's list. Buh-bye, strawman. Second, depending on genes, a baby is born with a certain amount of risk for all sorts of things. It's just the way it is. Surely you understand that much. However, feeding a young baby anything other than the biological standard raises those risks even higher.
Really, I don't understand why you are having such a hard time comprehending this. Maybe if you read a bit more thoroughly?

Excellent post, Doctor!
I find it hard to believe that she has an Ivy League education or that she ever breastfed her children, I think she's a troll. Responding to her ridiculous, unfounded assertions just gives her her jollies.
You may be right.

Please expound on that. I am very interested in hearing why our links are lacking in credibility. Or was that a personal attack on the posters themselves? Ad hominem, much?
"It allows them to justify bf'ing longer than the child needs bm and into years where it can be downright damaging."
While it WOULD be damaging to a child to be pulled out of class in middle school to be nursed by Mommy, do you actually KNOW any bfers who do that?
While it WOULD be damaging to a child to have the parent delay her/his college graduation ceremony to be nursed first, do you actually KNOW any bfers who do that?
Or are you talking about children who haven't even lost their *milk* teeth (did you catch that? MILK teeth?) yet?
DO you have anything to back up THAT assertion?

I'm sorry he weaned. It's that "I wanna be just like my big brudder" thing. :-) You did the best you could, which is awesome, BTW, and longer than a lot of people. And I can't believe he's 17 months already!! He was just born, wasn't he? ;-)
My "baby" will be four years old in *sob* 9 days!
