Have you ever BF in a bathroom stall?

  • Never, and I never will!
  • Once or twice, but never again!
  • A few times, but not willingly
  • A few times, by my own choice
  • Most of the time, I prefer it
  • Every time I am out and about
  • N/A - I FF & can feed my baby anywhere

You will be able to change your vote.

I hand expressed in a bathroom stall once - it was either that or watch my breasts explode! LOL!

I never nursed in a bathroom stall, but I did pump in one once. It was at a client's office, it was the only private place with a plug. After that I swore never again, and would figure out a way to pump as discreetly as I could in my car if there was no office or conference room available.

I did that once in the hospital bathroom, when they kept me a couple of nights due to kidney stones that would not pass. Didn't get much out, but some relief.

I have BF in a bathroom stall twice, both times with my older child, and both times within the space of about a month of each other, when he was between 2 and 3 months old. Both times were also in restaurants; one was while we were having dinner out with my IL's, and I felt embarrassed because it was a tiny, crowded place and people were on top of each other as it was, so I was scared to draw attention to myself. The second time was at a Christmas party thrown by DH's unit at work, and there were a number of elderly gentlemen there whom I was afraid would make a big deal if I nursed in front of them. As it turned out, I was so uncomfortable nursing in the stall that my baby wouldn't nurse, and I ended up soaking my pant leg both times because I let down anyway, and then I had to spend the remainder of both events with milk-soaked pants, while the baby cried because he was hungry. I probably should have just nursed at the table in both cases.

Never in a bathroom stall while out and about.

I have on a couple occasions nursed in an anteroom to a restroom, on a couch, e.g. in the mall family restroom area while DH had DD1.

I voted "never," because even though I'm bashful, I'm not THAT bashful...I've never been in a bathroom stall that I would feel comfortable nursing in, other than the ADA accessible one here at work, which I have pumped in once or twice.

However, if there had been an option that stated "N/A, I *BF* and can feed my baby anywhere" I would have chosen that. ;-)

It's sad that any nursing mother would feel that way--especially with such a young infant, although I completely understand it! Hindsight is 20/20, huh. :-)

That reminds me; I had occasion last weekend to visit a mall I haven't been to in many years--pre-kids--so I never would have thought about a family room, but this time we were sitting in the food court and I saw the sign. Younger child was getting antsy anyway, so I told DH and older child to go have fun at Build-a-bear and YC & I went to check out the family room.

WOW, what a beautiful room! They had this long row of low sinks, 4 changing tables, a microwave, a toilet stall with an adult-sized toilet, a child-sized toilet and a child-sized urinal, and another huge room with a kiddie picnic table, a big toy area, a TV playing Toy Story (not sure which one, lol), many tub chairs, and three curtained-off nursing areas with low light. And it was immaculate. I wanted to stay in there long after YC was done nursing.

Sounds like a mall worth driving to - I want to go! DS/YDD would love the play room and Toy Story, but would absolutely go nuts about a little toilet and urinal (we are at that stage).

I'll bet--they could even go at the same time! How cool would THAT be? Then you'd get home and they'd be upset that they couldn't go at the same time. lol
