I Formula Feed

I chose to formula feed my daughter. I love her with all my heart, and am a great mother (contray to what other mothers will say because I didn't BF). I gave my daughter the best 9 months of my life when pregnant...eating healthy, excerising, quit smoking, quit drinking, yada yada yada and I give her everything in this world now but yes I was selfish and formula fed and do not regret one second of it. I'm sorry that my husband, mother, sister can help with feedings and make a bottle themselves... I can go out for a night and not worry about having a glass of wine or I can go to the mall and not have to whip my boob out in the middle of the common area. And my daughter is extemely healthy and happy. I don't think Im going to hell because I formula feed nor do I feel I am a bad parent. My husband and I agreed formula was the way to go for us. I'm sure there are plenty of things BF'ing mothers do that other parents wouldn't agree with but that doesnt mean you should be crucified for it. I think other mothers should get off their high horse about bf'ing and realize its just not for everyone and you're not

NOBODY has called you a "liar". But you have accused numerous people of saying something they haven't said. You have even specifically called ME out for doing so, when I don't believe I have ever done any such thing. All this without ever producing any evidence...what a hoot.

"I agree and people take unnecessary risks everyday. I believe it's a part of life and we have to do what works best for us."

That's an odd position to take as a parent, though. I would think you'd want to protect your child as much as is reasonably possible. I mean, I don't get enough exercise but that doesn't mean that I don't try to give my baby as much exercise as she needs for proper development and growth.

"And what exactly are the 'benefits' of formula?

For me not having to BF."

Circular argumentation?

"None. It was all for myself and me not wanting to BF. I think that formula worked just fine for my baby I never had any complaints and I was happy. I have never said that the actual nutritional value of formula is better than or the same as BM, but it made fed four wonderful kids for me and I have no complaints."

I have to say I find it odd that all of this statement is about you and your happiness. Perhaps it's just because I'm new to parenting, but I was under the impression that parenting wasn't supposed to just be about you. I mean, if it really was all about you, why did you choose to create enormous burdens of responsibility in the first place? Granted, what's best for you and what's best for your kids don't always align and you can't always do what's best for them, but this post sounds like you don't really care if it would have been best for them- only that it was best for you. It seems odd that, in all of your argumentation, there is not one iota of demonstrated consideration for your kids. I'll say again that I find that extremely odd. Perhaps you can clarify your position?

"But what about doner milk?"

I don't know a lot about donated milk, but I doubt that supply is so high that women who just don't want to bf can get it readily. I know I certainly would not donate my milk to a woman who could bf but wouldn't, when there are so many women who would bf if they could who could have it instead.

Like it or not there is plenty of calcium, vitamin D, DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and ARA (arachidonic acid) that is also found in breastmilk. And yes you breastfeed for the first couple years and then guess what? Kids start shoving the same crap in the mouths and tummy when they aren't breastfeeding anymore. Unless you plan on BF until they are 20.

*haven't read ahead!!*

DYK that there are only about 30 man-made ingredients in formula, but there is hundreds of natural ingredients in BM?
