I Formula Feed

I chose to formula feed my daughter. I love her with all my heart, and am a great mother (contray to what other mothers will say because I didn't BF). I gave my daughter the best 9 months of my life when pregnant...eating healthy, excerising, quit smoking, quit drinking, yada yada yada and I give her everything in this world now but yes I was selfish and formula fed and do not regret one second of it. I'm sorry that my husband, mother, sister can help with feedings and make a bottle themselves... I can go out for a night and not worry about having a glass of wine or I can go to the mall and not have to whip my boob out in the middle of the common area. And my daughter is extemely healthy and happy. I don't think Im going to hell because I formula feed nor do I feel I am a bad parent. My husband and I agreed formula was the way to go for us. I'm sure there are plenty of things BF'ing mothers do that other parents wouldn't agree with but that doesnt mean you should be crucified for it. I think other mothers should get off their high horse about bf'ing and realize its just not for everyone and you're not

And I was FF and read at a ninth-grade level in the first grade. What's your point? I don't think anyone here has argued that ff children have low IQ's- unless you'd like to provide a quote and post number.

"I just get the feeling that many of the BF'ers here have never studied statistics, or they wouldn't be quoting them right and left as gospel truth."

Hallelujah, Praise Jeebus! Oh, wait...

"See we have different ways of parenting. I don't force my kids to wear bike helmets. I have them and it's their choice to wear them or not. I agree that I never wore a helmet and I'm not going to make my kids do it. You are never going to be able to protect your kids from everything. I want them to learn on there own how to take care of themselves. I want them to grow up to be responsible adults not like the way many young people are turning out today."

I don't see how this compares to your argument at hand- that of who gets to choose whether or not a baby gets breastmilk or formula. Obviously you didn't give your babies the choice to bf.

"I don't want them to be living at home until they're in their mid 20's like so many kids today."

My dad has two siblings who never left home. They still live there, at 46 and 50 years old. I wish my kids could grow up next door to that like I did so they'd understand why it's important to grow up and leave the house. I moved out eight days after my eighteenth birthday and never looked back.

Although I fail to see how this is related to breastfeeding, honestly. E is exclusively bf and yet she naps on her own, sleeps in her own bed (she's too teeny for her own room quite yet), and has about an hour of independent play each day.

"Wouldn't it have been easier to switch to a soy based formula? Rather than changing your diet? That is just one example of why I wouldn't want to BF."

Ah, but which one, and how many would you have to go through before you figured it out? And once you got the baby on the formula, what about the unpleasant side-effects like constipation? From what I read on my PG, cutting out dairy would be a piece of cake by comparison to the added expense and inconvenience of formula-feeding. And that's saying something, since I've always eaten a ton of dairy.

I have to say that this isn't helping my general impression that you made this decision without consideration of your children.

I guess maybe I wasn't clear (I'm new to this whole debating thing), I understand that formula has risks that are subject to anything that is "manufactured", what I was trying to say is that, if you're making your own formula with store-bought ingredients, chances are, the ingredients you're using are also "manufactured".
