I Formula Feed

I chose to formula feed my daughter. I love her with all my heart, and am a great mother (contray to what other mothers will say because I didn't BF). I gave my daughter the best 9 months of my life when pregnant...eating healthy, excerising, quit smoking, quit drinking, yada yada yada and I give her everything in this world now but yes I was selfish and formula fed and do not regret one second of it. I'm sorry that my husband, mother, sister can help with feedings and make a bottle themselves... I can go out for a night and not worry about having a glass of wine or I can go to the mall and not have to whip my boob out in the middle of the common area. And my daughter is extemely healthy and happy. I don't think Im going to hell because I formula feed nor do I feel I am a bad parent. My husband and I agreed formula was the way to go for us. I'm sure there are plenty of things BF'ing mothers do that other parents wouldn't agree with but that doesnt mean you should be crucified for it. I think other mothers should get off their high horse about bf'ing and realize its just not for everyone and you're not

I am one, and I think there are at least two more posters who were raised on Karo syrup and Carnation milk. My mom fed my older brother and younger sister this as well, and you know what they say

I guess I see where you're coming from, the FDA is not perfect, and has made mistakes over the years, but I still trust them more than my own research/cooking skills...

Ok here's one article I posted regarding

Home made vs. commercial formula

Evaporated milk formulas

In the 1920s and 1930s, evaporated milk began to be widely commercially available at low prices, and several clinical studies suggested that babies fed evaporated milk formula thrive as well as breastfed babies (these findings are not supported by modern research.) These studies, accompanied by the affordable price of evaporated milk and the availability of the home icebox initiated a tremendous rise in the use of evaporated milk formulas. By the late 1930s, the use of evaporated milk formulas in the United States surpassed all commercial formulas, and by 1950 over half of all babies in the United States were reared on such formulas.

Isn't it interesting that "several clinical studies suggested that babies fed evaporated milk formula thrive as well as breastfed babies". So why bother with today's formula, after all, so many of us "thrived" on Carnation Milk and Karo syrup - and we have scientific studies to prove it! ;)

Still looking for the chart...

«The only thing we can say with 100% accuracy in this debate is that a BF child will never be harmed by formula.»

I would have said instead "a BF child *could* be harmed by formula"...

Not quite sure what you meant there?

«The happiest baby I've ever seen did not come from the happiest mom I've ever seen! :)»

There ya go. Proof that happy babies don't always come from exclusively happy mommies. ;-)
