I Formula Feed

I chose to formula feed my daughter. I love her with all my heart, and am a great mother (contray to what other mothers will say because I didn't BF). I gave my daughter the best 9 months of my life when pregnant...eating healthy, excerising, quit smoking, quit drinking, yada yada yada and I give her everything in this world now but yes I was selfish and formula fed and do not regret one second of it. I'm sorry that my husband, mother, sister can help with feedings and make a bottle themselves... I can go out for a night and not worry about having a glass of wine or I can go to the mall and not have to whip my boob out in the middle of the common area. And my daughter is extemely healthy and happy. I don't think Im going to hell because I formula feed nor do I feel I am a bad parent. My husband and I agreed formula was the way to go for us. I'm sure there are plenty of things BF'ing mothers do that other parents wouldn't agree with but that doesnt mean you should be crucified for it. I think other mothers should get off their high horse about bf'ing and realize its just not for everyone and you're not

Not really, no. Mentally, perhaps it can be argued in certain specific cases, but physically, our bodies were meant to BF and it also benefits our bodies in a multitude of ways from lower risk of BR cancer, ovarian cancer etc. if you have BFed, to easier recovery from childbirth, as well as other things.

And interestingly enough my formula recommands speaking to a doctor first before using it.

My doctor was very aware of my decision and my reasons for choosing formula.

I have also heard that from parents who abuse thier kids. Not much of a defense.

I would think that being the mum, you would be more concerned about your infants well being then yourself. But you have repeatly posted otherwise

"I would have hated motherhood if I had to breastfeed."

"I know there are risks"

"The benefit to ME is to enjoy motherhood and my children"

"and I feel that to ME the benefit of being able to use formula is worth the risk"

Mentally yes it can benefit some mother's and mental health can be just as important as physical health.

Ironically, so does formula. All formula comes with a label that says that BFing is better, healthier etc. (yada yada yada) and there is talk about actual warning labels in black and white closer to what is found on cigarettes here in Canada...b/c the health risks *are* that significant.

See, you posted that there would be a warning label if formula was dangerous. And I told you there IS a warning label. So by that arguement, formula IS dangerous and it does have a warning label. IF it were 100% safe

You know, like rat poison. The actual kind, used to kill actual rats. That's not dangerous at all...

Some people (and not just on this board) think formula should too.
