I miss debating...

It's been so quiet here, that I have wandered off and started debating on a USA article on nursing in public:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/opinion/forum/story/2011-12-26/breastfeeding-mother-baby-bottle/52233802/1

I had forgotten how much I enjoyed it, it's been so long since we had a decent debate here.

I was thinking that was you! :D It was great to read your posts there.

I wonder if it will die down now - or pick up now that the holidays are over?

Boy, I must really miss debating - I just found myself debating creationism vs. evolution on Google+! LOL

I'veI noticed that ever since IV change the format of the boards, there has been a significant drop-off in participation in this debate board. I had hoped that after they further tweaked the changes to the boards to address some major complaints about the initial change, that some who had abandoned this board might return but unfortunately that didn't happen in any significant way. I also expected that we would eventually get new members to IV who find it easier to learn how the new message board format works due to not having not been familiar with the old format. While we have had a few lively debates here and there it has definitely been slower then in years past. Part of that was likely due to the holiday season occupying peoples time somewhat. We do seem to get a fair number of people who lurk and read various threads though few who seem willing de-lurk and post. Maybe we just need to come up with a sufficiently controversial BF vs F topic for debate to draw them out.

It is a matter of balance between the right of the woman and baby to breastfeed and the rights of everyone else. Laws that do not respect the general public wrongly make the mother and baby more important than the rest of us. -James

Hard to believe this clueless response got 3 likes!

Fortunately this other male totally redeemed his gender:

Shame on all women that breastfeed. They are a bunch of communist rabble. They are trying to keep the money away from the job creators that produce baby formula, pharmaceuticals, etc. They are starting their children off on free milk from mom so they will grow up and expect free food from Uncle Sam. Allowing them to do it in public could lead to women losing the opportunity to "earn money for college" working at the strip club, because men can go see breasts for free at the mall.-Bob

He totally should be invited to the ivillage board!

I wish I could invite them all! I was afraid of getting in trouble though...

Not about breastmilk vs. formula - but doesn't it sound familiar??? Love it!
