Is there anywhere you feel it is completely inappropriate to nurse in public?

I still just would not do it. I asked one of my bfing friends (who bf 2 kids over a year each & never in pubic or around people) as I was just talking to her on the phone & she said NO WAY I just could never do it either even though I know I've read it is ok.

ITA, I was pleasantly surprised to hear that the women on this board hold their babies. IRL, I haven't seen that as much. I do think that nursing a toddler hands down results in more one-on-one. I think this age is when some moms are prone to letting a baby hold the bottle. Also, most moms I know don't let their toddlers have more than a bottle or two a day (if at all). My dd nurses 6-10 times in 24 hours. Sometimes more, sometimes less. I think the comfort, security and grounding that nursing provides can really help toddlers get through the toddlerhood.

I think the longer I nurse, the more I see how important it is for my dd (she *needs* it) and the more important and crucial I feel it is to ebf.

Technically that's true, but do you honestly think a bottle fed baby could never or even almost never be held? The mother would have to go to great lengths to always feed a bottle without holding the baby! Now as for the occasional, fraction of the time a bottle fed baby is fed while not actually being held, do you think that makes a difference on bonding? To me it's laughable to even suggest so (not that you have suggested it but others have).

I am a complete paranoid nut when it comes to food safety. My friends laugh at me because I smell all perishable foods to make sure they smell safe, lol! I do understand why breastmilk is different from other foods though. Think about it. It doesn't come from the body chilled. It's normal state is body temperature where most other foods would definately spoil. Breastmilk is so unique!~Lisa

Why should a bf have to worry about comfort levels of others first before thinking of meeting her baby's needs. I think people should just expect a mother to put her baby first and get over it. As I said before, God gave us heads that turn in different directions for a reason.;-)~Lisa

I even buy meat & perishables last in the grocery. Don't want them to sit in my buggy any length of time.

I understand breastmilk is different. I still just could not do it. It is just me. I'm being honest. Nope siree, can't do it :o)

On one of my marathon long days I just couldn't pop a bottle of ebm at 6pm that had been in the diaper bag since 7 that morning. I just couldn't do it. But that is me. Not saying it can't be done, not at all. Just not me.

Should 1 bfer leave or 6 other people exit the room? 6 people ignoring the bfer would be better than the 1 bfer just exiting the room?

Better for whom?
