Is there anywhere you feel it is completely inappropriate to nurse in public?

I'm pro-breastfeeding if that is what the mother wants to do. I fully support it. I think it is great. Everyone I know breastfeeds. I know very few formula feeders as myself.

I must have missed in your posts that demonstrated how you are even slightly supportive of breastfeeing (let alone "fully" support it) "if that's what the mother wants to do".

Yes I agree it's intimate and believe me I'm modest when it comes to things like this, but trust me, I would never have even considered it if you could see any "private parts" (that term always makes me think of Howard Stern!). All you see is sheets, my two hands, and half a baby (plus you see the gowned torso of my OB grasping the baby). It's the "gooey" part that I realized is not for public sharing!

But you're right,..reminiscing about births and video's and such caused a temporary lapse of my better judgment! Honestly though, I cherish those pictures as one of the most awesome keepsakes I could have...

To us it is just hard to focus when you know someone is breastfeeding (even for the breastfeeders they don't want to do it themselves, their choice. They will tell you, I leave because I want to, not because of whoever).

I'm sure you disagree but I just don't think one person should stay and 6 others leave or feel awkardly uncomfortable the entire time. Yes, I would be courteous enough to excuse myself then to let 6 people sit like that! Besides, I wouldn't want to be feeling I was making anyone uncomfortable.

Well, when you are serving an ongoing buffet in the kitchen with 6 people sitting there eating & 6 others plus kids running in/out to refill their plates and drinks I really think it is much more manners and much easier for that one person than 12+ people at a bbq.

Well I couldn't do that out on my marathon days either.

How could you have missed it? I've always stated I'm for the mother's choice to breastfeed her infant if that is what she wants to do. I even said I wouldn't leave a restaurant if the lady at the next booth was bfing and I don't even go to public bathrooms myself (yuck).

I believe every woman has the right to choose her form of feeding for her child and should be supported in whatever choice she makes. Simple really.

Just like I believe the same for other parenting choices (style of clothes, tv or not, sleep times or not, whatever)

I'm sure a lot of how I feel is how I've sat around and listened to real breastfeeders say how they feel. Well before I ever even thought of starting a family myself.

Yes, many mothers at toddlerhood let their babies hold their bottle (if they are still using one).

Technically, cows milk comes out at room (er, barn) temperature.

True enough, but breastmilk doesn't need to be pasteurized to be considered safe.~Lisa
