Is there anywhere you feel it is completely inappropriate to nurse in public?

IMO, the problem here is that I have a certain belief that bf'ing enhances bonding. Yet I can't feel free to express it, because others will be offended. I don't have that belief because I want to offend others, want to make others feel bad, feel I'm superior, because I'm defensive, or have low self esteem. I have that belief because of my experience in motherhood.

I recognize that others will disagree with my belief. I don't believe that the fact that they disagree to be a reflection of emotional problems on their part. I would hope that they could afford me the same courtesy and recognize that the fact I hold this belief is not because I have emotional problems.

I've tried mashed potatoes. I don't make instant, I go the long route. He even refused those. I've tried & tried the cereals, mixed with formula, mixed with fruits. I just read an article yesterday that says to offer it every day. I haven't been doing that. So tonight at supper it begins. I'm going to offer cereal with some fruit or formula, haven't decided which yet.

Right now I'm going for a pc of cake and milk for myself :o)

ITA. I have always felt it was a really important part of my dd's development. I really feel that nursing during the toddler years has impacted our bonding a lot. Of course, I don't know for sure, since I would have to compare our lives bf'ing and then compare it not bf'ing, which would be impossible. But it seems to have increased the bond between us. I have no idea how often non-nursing toddlers sit still for hugs and cuddling. I know that they do. I just don't know if my dd and I do it more often, since she is still nursing. It seems that we cuddle more because she is still nursing.

Although, not all nursing is hunky dory. Sometimes I'm just ready for her to quit and go play, LOL! And then other times it's really great.

ITA. I'm getting the impression that bf'ing is seen as the same as sex, decent in private but indecent in public. Of course, the fact that the baby is eating and not having sex seems to make no difference.

ITA! You said it so well! This is why I am conflicted at times on the whole bonding subject.

From what I understand, pasteurization kills 50-90% of the nutrients. But it also kills the bacteria. Kind of win/lose situation I think. I have heard that they are trying to come up with a process that would kill the bacteria, but not the nutrients. This would make a difference in not just milk, but fruit juice also. Commercial fruit juice is not as good as fresh, because the nutrients have been killed by pasteurization.

I would agree with your dh. Clean milk straight from the cow would be more nutritious.

Well, here in Arizona, where it could be 120 degrees in the car in the summer time, I would definitely use a cooler! Although, I'm guessing you could never leave your formula and water in the car during the summer, but would have to carry it with you.

My husband loved the whole labor & delivery! He said it was just a special time between a husband & wife and now we get to do it a 3rd time. My Dad says he wished things had been different when mom had us, he feels he has missed out on what my brother & husband got to share with me and my sil. My husband even stayed with me, roomed-in, at the hospital during our stay. He didn't want to miss a minute & I wanted my sweetheart there every minute!

I won't leave the can of formula & bottles with water in the SUV during ANY temp weather. It is all in the diaper bag & goes into the school, mall, restaurant....
