Woman Breastfeeds A Baby That Isn't Hers, Gets Arrested

Posted: 04/ 9/2012 4:31 pm

Debates have flared over where it's okay for women to breastfeed, but here's one location that's definitely off-limits -- inside a stranger's home with someone else's baby.

That's what happened in South Dakota where a mom was startled to find a woman she didn't know breastfeeding her child in her Brookings bedroom on Sunday,

I read some more details on this incident and apparently there are some other details that make the story even weirder if that's possible. The alleged perpetrator doesn't appear to have any children of her own or at least none of the news article mention it. That leads to the question of whether she was actually lactating at the time of the incident or simply trying to dry nurse the baby. If she is indeed childless (I'm including children given up for adoption) and lactating then I'd wonder why she was lactating unless she manual induced lactation as some adoptive moms do but then why did she do that? I wonder if she maybe had had a baby who either died, was taken from her care by CPS, or was given up for adoption and that she was having difficulty accepting the situation so broke into this other mom's home to get back the experience of having a baby again. That would explain why she might be lactating (if indeed she was) even though she has no children of her own (if that's indeed the case). I just get the feeling there are some key details missing from this story that will change the majorly change our perception of this incident.

Some more details I just came across regarding this weird story: The invader was supposedly drunk at the time of the incidence and apparently was unable to get the baby in question to BF. They don't say whether she was a mother herself or even lactating at the time nor whether the baby's mother was BF'ing, which if she was not might explain why the this intruder women couldn't get the baby to BF though maybe the baby was just not in cross-nursing with a stranger. Still no info on the drunk woman's motives though.
