Here's an seemingly innocent article on a nurse-in at an Applebees. However, if you read the reader comments...boy oh boy! Talk about some ignorant remarks. One of them even equated NIP to smoking! Unbelievable. I thought it would be a good thing to discuss on here, especially since our resident FF/anti-NIP'ers are feeling underrepresented.

BF'ers, be prepared to be astounded.

>>Also, IMNSHO, people cannot respect and value others unless they first feel respected and valued themselves. Responding promptly to a young infants cries teaches them that they are valuable and that they can trust others to take care of them.

I don't think I've ever seen this idea written so poignantly! ITA>>

No person ever died of silliness because s/he had to endure exposure to caring for a child. Besides, a truly competent person can tell that there is a significant difference between their personal discomfort of something normal vs. something that is socially unacceptable and a detriment to society. There's plenty of time and opportunity to remove oneself from those situations where unreasonable sensibilties are quaking in the face of good sense.

How does one deliberately make strangers uncomfortable by right of doing something normal and otherwise acceptable (assuming that there is someone out there who actually cares)? Is there some type of sign or insignia that is worn by those who find NIPing 'icky'? Or, do we wait until you start to behave inappropriately, and then take that as our signal to go hide?

Nah... I find that penalization for the lack of appropriate behavior to be far more satisfying. You (general public)

"I knew the day would come when we'd find something upon which to agree. I should have just read ahead-- I could have saved myself a post."

LOL - I think we agree on more than we let on, we just get bogged down in semantics.

"Don't be ridiculous! You needn't have waited six hours. I'm sure that on such a scenic drive there would have been some wood/forrests along the way for you to hide in to feed the baby (as long as you called ahead to make sure there were no rangers or hikers around). Of course, you might have offended the bears and the squirrels, but..."

Thank you!
