Here's an seemingly innocent article on a nurse-in at an Applebees. However, if you read the reader comments...boy oh boy! Talk about some ignorant remarks. One of them even equated NIP to smoking! Unbelievable. I thought it would be a good thing to discuss on here, especially since our resident FF/anti-NIP'ers are feeling underrepresented.

BF'ers, be prepared to be astounded.

Carolyn,

This is why I love this board, I do not have to move from my computer and learn everything.

Or think cats, or dogs, or a whale, (kind of hard as they live in water).

When our cat had her kittens, she was one of those reluctant nursers.

Speaking of whales, it just so happens that I have a copy of the children’s book If My Mom Were A Platypus by Dia Michels. Turns out that although platypus have bills, which makes BFing unique. Whale’s milk is the consistency of toothpaste, so it doesn’t dilute into the ocean.

baby whale: “I swim with my mom as she glides through the water. The wave her body makes helps lift me to her, so that I can nurse. All I have to do then is nudge one of two slits on her belly. Her milk comes out as thick as toothpaste, right into my mouth.”

baby platypus: “I clung to my mom’s fur. Milk began to ooze out from the milk patches on her chest. I lapped the milk up from her fur.”

I can have a siggy now!

>>Me covering would serve no purpose since I don't subscribe to Islam.<<

Kinda seems like you averted answering the gist of my question but capitalizing on my lack of knowledge about Islam.

So, let me try again, hypothetically, if their were a religion/culture in the U.S. that expected women to cover their ears, and you found yourself on an elevator or out to dinner, and the people from the other religion/culture were obviously uncomfortable with your ears showing, would you cover them? Why or why not?

I had a cat who did that! His name was Dandy Lion and we found him in Saudi Arabie (we were living there) when he was probably around 2 weeks old. We fed him with the eyedropper and he did the sucking/kneading thing too! It was cute but boy it hurt if he was on your lap! He did it right up until he died at almost 20 years, I read it can be a sign that they were weaned too early!
