Here's an seemingly innocent article on a nurse-in at an Applebees. However, if you read the reader comments...boy oh boy! Talk about some ignorant remarks. One of them even equated NIP to smoking! Unbelievable. I thought it would be a good thing to discuss on here, especially since our resident FF/anti-NIP'ers are feeling underrepresented.

BF'ers, be prepared to be astounded.

"But for the breasts of their unemployed SAHMs, these babies would all apparently have starved??

I became engorged too, but I dealt with it.

Again, you are the exception to the rule.

Well, some mothers nurse more than one child *at a time*, even in public, if they so choose. That would take care of a lot of the running around, wouldn't it? If they don't tandem nurse, they can learn to nurse their babies in a sling or front carrier, while walking around a playground. Or they time their outings around their babies' feedings, like I did when my son was younger. Having older children definitely does not need to be a hindrance to BF directly from the breast. I hope some of our many-times blessed moms will chime in on this one! It CAN be done, and fortunately, it often IS done!

Furthermore, are you aware that BF directly from the breast is healthier and more beneficial than offering EBM? They aren't the same thing. EBM is #2 on the hierarchical list of ways to feed the baby. It's still better than FF, but not as good as direct BF.

What's all this talk about "the rule"? What is "the rule"? Who wrote the "BF rule", anyway?

I'm right there with you Jennifer. I read about women who stopped needing nursing pads after 6 weeks and it boggles my mind. I should definitely buy stock in the Lansinoh company.

Is it TMI to tell you all that I actually took a nursing pad out of my bra to check the spelling of Lansinoh?
