NIP Article - reader's comments

Here's an seemingly innocent article on a nurse-in at an Applebees. However, if you read the reader comments...boy oh boy! Talk about some ignorant remarks. One of them even equated NIP to smoking! Unbelievable. I thought it would be a good thing to discuss on here, especially since our resident FF/anti-NIP'ers are feeling underrepresented.

BF'ers, be prepared to be astounded.

"But maybe it is better to pretend the pump used occassionally won't work for the average BFing militant"

How about if instead, the mom pumps a bottle every few days at 2 pm instead while the baby is napping?

A la Chandler Bing, could you BE any more condescending? The "evil public" does not get any say in how we feed our babies. The law is on our side. It is not a situation of good vs. evil. It is a situation of protection under law.

Personally, I don't see how name calling can be considered respectful. In fact this whole point seems to be disrespectful "better to pretend"??

Doesn't it seem at all ironic that you claim that you don't want to offend strangers by breastfeeding, but you're comfortable flinging derogatory terms in this debate?

Way back earlier in the thread you alluded to the fact that you will not NIP because it makes you too uncomfortable thinking about what others might think. Maybe it's your own discomfort that you've really been defending, not the discomfort of others.

Believe it or not, the general public has no interest or desire to see your breasts!

That's actually one of my pet peeves.
