Posting photos of nursing babies online

On another board, a poster has a long siggy that includes a slideshow of nursing babies from her playgroup. Another poster took offense at it and there has been quite the debate over the appropriateness of the siggy. I posted a message inviting people here to discuss that issue, and I hope that one of the posters from that particular playgroup comes here, at least so we can see what the siggy looks like. I'm having a hard time forming coherent thoughts today, LOL! So don't worry if I don't come back to debate the issue with you, I'm trying to get out of the office so I can go home & sleep.

As "Linda Richmond" (aka Mike Myers) from SNL would say, "talk amongst yourselves."

Oh yeah, 'cuz it's not like the baby's needs have any reason to be considered.

I don't care for cats, but do I complain about a siggy that might have one in it?

You wanted to know why I would do something that made other people uncomfortable. I am telling you, using BF as an example, since it's the topic here a lot more than the siggy really is, that my rights and my baby's rights trump these "other people"'s squeamishness.

And has already been stated countless times: if a member is paying for her EY package she can display anything she wants in her siggy, within TOS. And those who don't like what they see can disable their siggy viewing feature.

It's funny how its taken over 5 + months for someone to notice our photo tag.

I noticed it long ago and loved it!

>>Lol, that is a stretch. To say that it is common sense to know that you are going to offend people by posting a picture of your naked breast can somehow be stretched to mean that all women with common sense would breastfeed?>>

The stretch is you taking my statement that it is common sense to breastfeed and trying to turn it into the above quote.

So because you don't see it as "bashing", I shouldn't either? Hi, welcome to the debate board! I *do* think it puts down BF, as well as women's bodies to say those things. Just because those people think BF is not "aesthetically pleasing" (which is what they really said, not "pretty" as you translated it to). I definitely don't BF my child so that others can look on it and derive pleasure from seeing my body exposed. To me, it's judgemental and somewhat rude. Agree, or don't!

IMHO extremely long signatures are unnecessary, but lots of people have them and I know I can turn them off,

But this is how ppl get great blinkies

I didn't say she had to care. I only gave my personal response to that attitude. I don't think it's the right thing to do, to go through life saying "f everyone" (for lack of a better word) because I just don't care. I think that a little respect goes a long way, and if more breastfeeders cared to give a little respect, and more breastfearers (I just made that up) did the same, it would be accepted in no time. I'm wondering why just about every response to me automatically assumes I'm against nursing in public, when I've stated I did it myself several times.

Lol, what needs? Babies need to eat and formula feeds them. No fuss no muss and no problems.
