Posting photos of nursing babies online

On another board, a poster has a long siggy that includes a slideshow of nursing babies from her playgroup. Another poster took offense at it and there has been quite the debate over the appropriateness of the siggy. I posted a message inviting people here to discuss that issue, and I hope that one of the posters from that particular playgroup comes here, at least so we can see what the siggy looks like. I'm having a hard time forming coherent thoughts today, LOL! So don't worry if I don't come back to debate the issue with you, I'm trying to get out of the office so I can go home & sleep.

As "Linda Richmond" (aka Mike Myers) from SNL would say, "talk amongst yourselves."

The more often it is seen, the more normal it becomes. I think seeing normal moms and normal babies bfing is one of the best ways to promote bfing. Eventually people will become desensitized to bfing as sexual and not even give a glance. who cares! The baby is just eating!

My feelings exactly, and this is, in part, why I nurse in public without shame.

Well, if "people" were all fine with it, there wouldn't be a debate would there? Obviously, I am not the only one with that POV.

Never said you were, but your post does make it sound as if you believe that most people think just as you do, when I would say a great percentage do not.

<<My personal opinion is that being offensive to those who are offended by NIP is kind of the point of that siggy in the first place. >>

That's quite an extreme opinion. Why do you feel that way? (I've got lots of posts to catch up on, so maybe you did explain in more detail in a later post)

First of all, I am guessing your screen name means your birthday is 9/14?

SOrry I'm responding so far behind. See what I get for going to bed early? LOL

But still...you don't have to stare at the siggy. You can avert your eyes even if you are unable to turn your neck. And there's only one picture in all that siggy where you can even see any nipple. And...so what?

No, it's not against TOS, at least I don't think so. It's just that in the context of this debate, calling breasts "tits," "rack," etc. calls to mind a teenage boy who has never seen a breast used the way Nature intended.

<>

Exactly. So why be offended if they have a siggy that quotes the Bible?
