Posting photos of nursing babies online

On another board, a poster has a long siggy that includes a slideshow of nursing babies from her playgroup. Another poster took offense at it and there has been quite the debate over the appropriateness of the siggy. I posted a message inviting people here to discuss that issue, and I hope that one of the posters from that particular playgroup comes here, at least so we can see what the siggy looks like. I'm having a hard time forming coherent thoughts today, LOL! So don't worry if I don't come back to debate the issue with you, I'm trying to get out of the office so I can go home & sleep.

As "Linda Richmond" (aka Mike Myers) from SNL would say, "talk amongst yourselves."

"What would constitute a "tasteful pic depicting BF", in your opinion? Please don't say one where the baby has a blanket over its head, LOL."

As I stated before, the pics of the baby breastfeeding, but the mothers shirt covering the breast are fine...I have no problem with them. Some of those pics show more breast and nipple than would be allowed on prime time TV, so why are they allowed on IV? (Which is owned by NBC, I think. Could be wrong though)

Debbie -- I honestly do not remember any bashing of the people who made the blinkies. And yes, I agree that all blinkies are kind of "in your face." I personally do not care for them, because when I am "just getting to know someone," a ticker on how many weeks pregnant you are, followed by an ultrasound photo, followed by which Hogwarts House you have been sorted into, followed by the list of merit badges you won back in Girl Scouts, is TMI for me. My reaction to "in your face" political/religious blinkies is kind of like my reaction to "in your face" political speeches at the Academy Awards. Yes, it's a nice little pulpit, but really, can't you just thank your co-stars and directors and get on with it?

I have no idea. Why don't you write a letter to iVillage and ask them?

I said I didn't find the siggy aesthetically pleasing, not that I didn't find breastfeeding aesthetically pleasing.

It's no stretch at all. Your resentment shines through bright and clear.

<>

They're "showing off" their children nursing. The fact that you see a breast and nothing else is your own issue to deal with.

<>

When are you going to realize that it's not about YOU! It's about women supporting other women who *want* to nurse. You don't want to nurse. Fine. Then ignore the siggy. It's not inappropriate because your extremely sensitive sensibilites make it so. Again, it's not all about you.

If they bought a parents or baby magazine and in there was a picture of a woman nursing her baby, with the top of her breast showing, would that person protest the magazine?
