Posting photos of nursing babies online

On another board, a poster has a long siggy that includes a slideshow of nursing babies from her playgroup. Another poster took offense at it and there has been quite the debate over the appropriateness of the siggy. I posted a message inviting people here to discuss that issue, and I hope that one of the posters from that particular playgroup comes here, at least so we can see what the siggy looks like. I'm having a hard time forming coherent thoughts today, LOL! So don't worry if I don't come back to debate the issue with you, I'm trying to get out of the office so I can go home & sleep.

As "Linda Richmond" (aka Mike Myers) from SNL would say, "talk amongst yourselves."

"If you choose to take my opinion that breasts/breastfeeding is private and should be kept that way as insulting, well go right ahead. You can't blame me for your level of defensiveness. As I have said in previous posts, when it comes down to it, I don't care how you feed your child...I just don't want to see your breasts, whether in public or flashing on a photo tag."

Since I refuse to take my dd into a filthy public restroom to feed her, are you suggesting that since it should be "private" I stay home with my child until she's weaned? Would you sit on a toilet and give your ds a bottle? Why should I be forced to the ranks of second class citizen because I choose to give my child first class nutrition? And c'mon, do you really think the small amount of breast pictured on that siggy is the same as "flashing?" Get real, it's not an animated gif of women flapping their boobs at a busload of elementary school children, it's babies eating.

I have a few shirts in my closet that show more skin than that, and I'm sure alot of people do too.

I have a totally OT question, but I'm dying to know, LOL.

Some of you who come from the Snowbabies EC seem to have your personal siggies changing very frequently. Do they do this on their own, or are you changing your board settings over the course of the day? I use Photobucket to host my siggy stuff, and I don't know how you're making this happen, LOL. Can anyone enlighten me? I'm fairly computer-illiterate. :P

I don't know what to tell you. I can't exactly quote or link to posts that no longer exist. I am amazed, though, that you don't think anyone on the BF "side" of this debate has been rude.

A. First, I think there is a big difference between not doing something that could lower risks, and actually causing harm. There are plenty of things that people don't do (for themselves or for their children) that could decrease their risk factors for things. We don't say that someone is harming themselves if they don't take fish oil, if fish oil has been proven to reduce the risk of something or another. I think that using the word "harm" is loaded, and not really accurate.

B. I never said that anyone *said* bad mother, I said it was implied. Obviously this is subjective, but I think when one person says that another is bitter and jealous, mostly because they don't think breastfeeding is the be all end all.... it's implied. YMMV

So what's 3rd.... regurgitation? ;)

This is so strangely reminding me of the MSAHM argument.... maybe I spend too much time over there... ROFL.

Did you read the post she was replying to? It's gone now. It was accusing a FF mom of being bitter because she fed her baby the second best nutrition. Perhaps you shouldn't attribute it to the wrong person?

I guess "still" is a loaded word here... LOL. I mean, still breastfeeding, as opposed to having older children, like I do. My breastfeeding days are long behind me. :)

Ah, and here I thought you meant "still" breastfeeding despite the negative attitude toward BFing found in this thread ;),

Third is donor milk. Something both the poster you are replying to and I are familiar with as donors. First is breastfeeding, second is expressed milk from baby's own mother, third is milk from another mother, fouth is formula, at least according to the WHO.

Actually, I've done

I donated my freezer stash of EBM to another mom through
