Posting photos of nursing babies online

On another board, a poster has a long siggy that includes a slideshow of nursing babies from her playgroup. Another poster took offense at it and there has been quite the debate over the appropriateness of the siggy. I posted a message inviting people here to discuss that issue, and I hope that one of the posters from that particular playgroup comes here, at least so we can see what the siggy looks like. I'm having a hard time forming coherent thoughts today, LOL! So don't worry if I don't come back to debate the issue with you, I'm trying to get out of the office so I can go home & sleep.

As "Linda Richmond" (aka Mike Myers) from SNL would say, "talk amongst yourselves."

I guess that is where we differ in our philosophies. I would have said take care of the crab yourself (to DS) or get rid of it. I believe that teaches responsibility. Me taking over the care of DS's crab, cat, dog, fish etc, teaches him that he doesn't have to be accountable and there will always be someone to cover his a**. Not a lesson

Who is letting the kids watch violent shows and buying them violent toys, and not controlling violent behavior?

Well since dd is only 10 months old, that would be a great big "not me" but I can't answer for everyone else.

Obviously, you didn't read much beyond "devil's lubricant." Mrsmichael's took a lot of flack for the "God cries" comment, even though it was pretty obvious that she wasn't being serious.

You'll have to try again.

"What's driving our violent society then? Are we so naive to believe that entertainment is making us more violent? Aren't we making entertainment more violent, and not the other way around?"

I think it is a two way street. Movies and TV have been pushing the envelope to see how much nudity, vulgarity and violence they can get away with ever since its inception. Once, it was terribly controversial when Clark Gable said "Frankly my dear, I don't give a d-n.....now it is common vernacular and on TV every day. The violence seen in todays media is a result of constant one-upmanship amongst producers, and now it is being driven by the public's desire to see/hear something shocking. The more violent the media, the more violent the population, the more the population wants to see violence.

Why? I made my point. Cathymac denied I saw that term here, and I proved that I did.

From a follow up article to the "Nutrition for Healthy Term Infants"...

A: The Canadian Paediatric Society, Dietitians of Canada and Health Canada strongly support

breastfeeding as the optimal source of nutrition for healthy term infants and emphasized that there are

very few contraindications to breastfeeding. As NHTI grew in length, it became apparent that the

Statement could be neither a Statement on Breastfeeding nor an all-encompassing, practical guide to

infant nutrition.

Thus, not a very thorough examination of the benefits of breastfeeding and the risks of not breastfeeding!

You found a quote and took it out of its original, sarcastic context. That proves absolutely nothing.

BTW, I normally don't speak for people who are perfectly capable of speaking for themselves, but I believe the originator of that quote was a FF herself, so I think that tidbit of info proves MY point that you pretty much have blinders on when it comes to debate.
