"Proud Formula Feeder"?

In my playgroup, I've noticed some members have a blinkie I haven't seen before: "Proud Formula Feeder". In the past, I've seen the "Formula Feeding Mom" and "It's formula, not rat poison", but this new one struck me as odd. I can understand simply stating that you formula feed or saying that formula isn't rat poison (because it isn't), but I've been trying to figure out just why someone would be "proud" to FF.

While I don't think that women should necessarily feel guilty about not BF, I don't get what about FF there is to be proud about. Most (or maybe even all) of the women with said blinkie acknowledge that breastmilk is better, so why would they be proud to feed their babies something they know is substandard, even if they couldn't BF and FF was their only choice? What do you ladies think? Is/should there be such a thing as FF pride?

My guess would be not very many.

My reasoning:

Not all babies are breastfed. Less than 15% are still exclusively breastfeeding at 6 months, so I'd say the number of breastfed babies a GI specialist sees is pretty low.

Not all babies have reflux badly enough to warrant being seen by a GI specialist. There seem to be a lot of babies on my playgroup that have reflux that's being treated by their ped with Zantac. With my refluxer, it took until she was 6 months old for us to be seen by a specialist.

Based on my own experience with a breastfed baby with *suspected* reflux, perhaps other breastfed babies with reflux don't have symptoms serious enough to escalate their care to a GI specialist.

You continue to pop out insults, is it your day or life you have nothing better to do with?

Nah, just my day.

How do you know what magazines I read? And what did you hope to accomplish by coming here, bragging about your credentials, plagiarizing another's work and then getting angry and insulting when we dared to challenge you and your information?

Perhaps you should re-read my post better. I said there were 300 KNOWN ingredients in breastmilk, 270 of which are missing from formula.

What actual medical terminology?? As far as I'm aware neither Harvard nor Yale publishes their own medical journals. If that's incorrect then I'd like to see some links proving otherwise. Though I'm still quite baffled as to how this qualifies as medical terminology and what it has to do with the intelligence of people raising children. Unless you're trying to say that only drs and dr wannabes should have children?

And don't forget that at times oversupply can mask as mild reflux. I thought my youngest might have a bit of reflux but it was nothing that taming my supply didn't cure. Makes me wonder how many babies are receiving meds for reflux when in reality it's mom's oversupply that is causing the troubles. Obviously this isn't the case every time but I wonder.
