"Proud Formula Feeder"?

In my playgroup, I've noticed some members have a blinkie I haven't seen before: "Proud Formula Feeder". In the past, I've seen the "Formula Feeding Mom" and "It's formula, not rat poison", but this new one struck me as odd. I can understand simply stating that you formula feed or saying that formula isn't rat poison (because it isn't), but I've been trying to figure out just why someone would be "proud" to FF.
While I don't think that women should necessarily feel guilty about not BF, I don't get what about FF there is to be proud about. Most (or maybe even all) of the women with said blinkie acknowledge that breastmilk is better, so why would they be proud to feed their babies something they know is substandard, even if they couldn't BF and FF was their only choice? What do you ladies think? Is/should there be such a thing as FF pride?

Man Isabel, that sounds almost exactly like my two!!! The stuff Connor has let on that he knows blows my mind at times and I don't think it's even a drop in the bucket. And Alex, well he's a strawberry blonde right now and man, when the strawberry part kicks in WATCH OUT! And does he get TICKED if he can't do something or be somewhere! And he's only 8.5 months! Yeesh.

Gosh... I go away for a day and you all get past 800 w/out me ;)
BTW - it's been great reading stories about all your kids!! Can't wait till I have a few to share :)
Oh I'm not denying it's a risk. I just don't think that "just because the baby is already 38 weeks" makes it a greater risk than it is to a preemie KWIM? Yes, the risk is greater relative to other risks in a full-term baby, comapred to the same risk RELATIVE to other risks due to being born early, but the risk of infection is a risk of infection and I'd say probably a preemie has less chance of surviving an infection than a full-term baby (I could be wrong here, correct me if I am?). I guess it's like saying...the risk of NEC from formula in a preemie is high, but in a full-term baby is relativley low. Does that make the risk of getting asthma or other allergies from not having BM lower or higher depending on if one is preemie or not? NOt really...they are 2 different things. But if the risk of not developping allergies is *the* reason that clicks with someone as why they would want to BF or not, it would stand for preemies just as much as for full-term babies, EVEN THOUGH the risk of NEC is higher in preemies...the risk of allergy might JUST be what rocks that person's boat KWIM?

Well, it probably becomes the "greatest" risk for a 38 weeker.

I have absolutely nothing to add....just wanted to bump the thread a little closer to 1000.
Good night.

Oh dear. I'm not sure I can explain it any better. I was at work until 11:30 last night and have to work until 12:30 tonight so I am not going to be any LESS sleep deprived tomorrow either. *sigh*

You can hate me, but do it because you know me, not because I’m a member of a group. Anyways, people aren’t grapes --- you can’t weigh them in a bunch, but I guess it’s easier than dealing with people as individuals. There, I’ve solved the riddle of prejudice: it saves time.
