Reading the post below - benefits to formula - made me think of a new question.

I am sure that

or they figure the purported advantages of bm are overblown, or as another poster mentioned, they get bad bf'ing advice and assume formula is the only way to prevent their babies from starving. >>>

These, IMHO< are the two biggest obstacles. There are so many people who want to jump on the "you can't trust science! there's a study to prove anybody's point so I don't care what you say!" bandwagon. And there are so many more who trust those they are supposed to trust (doctors, books, what have you) and really, sadly, that trust is misplaced.

It's a shame not everyone lives in my narrow view of the future... I mean, I rock! Who wouldn't want to share my view?!

LOL! :) I think I lean more towards "Children of Men", "Handmaiden's Tale"

<< In the futuristic movies, there are no Bikers with leather jackets... So, you all might have the "cooler" get ups now... But, at least we have longevity....>>

Nope, nothing about "Star Wars" - just "futuristic movies"! ;)

Plus, IIRC, Star Wars *ISN'T* in the future (though it might be "futuristic") ...

I learned to take a painkiller 30 minutes before pumping, so that the pains would not hurt too much. I also learned that the contractions bring on a flood of lochia, so beware of that too.

It helped to make it faster, though. My heavy bleeding was done by two weeks, and it was pretty much just bloody cm after that until five weeks or so. Nothing now, and hopefully lots more nothing for at least a few more months.>>>

Ohhh I remember those contractions after delivery. I had a prescription for some heavy duty motrin. I mostly dealt with the pain, but there were a few instances that it was soooo painful. It wasn't at all related to BFing for me though, at least not that I remember. I do know one day I was rolling on the floor howling like a puppy. Ugh.

But, on the bright side, that Motrin did wonders. :D

subjective, though... Please define what "normal childhood" illnesses are... The past couple generations have largely been formula fed. There are issues resulting from not recieving the biologically standard breastmilk that we now brush off as "common" and "nor>>>

Colleen, would you mind sharing what these resulting issues are? I mean, I can posit some in my mind, but I'd like to hear what illnesses are "normal" now because of the large majority of us being FF. Just curious!

This is probably just correlation, but how about ADD/ADHD and severe food allergies?

call any of the "regular" posters here militant (without snickering, anyway).>>>

Not even me, Mary? I've had that "militant" term thrown my way a few times lately...
