Reading the post below - benefits to formula - made me think of a new question.

I am sure that

"They may have allergic reations to something in the formula. But a baby can have an allergic reaction to something that the mother may have eaten that passed through her milk."

True, but a formula fed baby is much more likely to have a reaction.

"You have to chose whats right for you."

Actually, shouldn't you be choosing what's best for the baby?

Please post where anyone made this claim.

"I happen to think that the bond with Daddy is equally important as the bond with Mommy."

I agree.

studies" that formula is dangerous, especially the ones with the DHA additive. To me all that says is that a breastfeeding organization is trying to scare moms into breastfeeding.>>>

Let me ask you - why would they do that? There is no profit in breastfeeding. So what exactly would a breastfeeding organization have to gain by promoting a free, healthy substance over one that costs you money, and poses potential risk?

I'm a cynic. My first question is always: Who profits from this? It's the american way. So tell me, who profits from encouraging mothers to breastfeed? Who loses profit?

Good point Catherine...

Some people just don't realize how lucky they are if their child tolerates formula "ok".

well thats really sad if you think the worst problem in the world is formula fed babies. I will just go on living my selfish life enjoying my healthy happy formula fed son (and baby #2 thats on the way), and you can save the world by each breastfeeding session! If I were you I would worry more about people who throw their babies in the trash, or sexually abuse their children. They are the ones to feel sorry for, not formula fed babies.>>>

This isn't middle school. You basically just took a sentence "There are "other" problems, but not more important ones" and turned it into something completely different. There's no need for this sort of behaviour from anybody here. Let's just try to quote exactly what people say, rather than inferring and misquoting them.

<<>>

And you only pumped for a couple of days....

Yeah, it is your choice. I think it's ridiculous how people are so intent on preserving their personal choice, they fail to mention that an infant is affected by said choice.

It's not a contest, you know. We aren't here to say our kids are better than yours. If you want that kind of debate, I reccommend your local playground.

This is so stupid. I made my point on my view. Your preaching did not make me feel like I made bad choice. Bottom line. It was not luck that made my child healthy and smart. I believe it has everything to do with how parents raise their children. There is no magic "food" that going to make your child smarter or healthier, they either will be or wont be!

Since some of you suggested we form form a BF gang with Grease style leather jackets and a name like the Pink Nipples, I whipped up a theme song for the gang. Feel free to distribute it to others if you want.

(Sung to the tune of "Summer Nights" from Grease)

Summer lovin', Me and DH had me blast
Summer lovin', impregnation happened so fast
Birthed a baby, whose crazy for me
Had a boy, cute as can be

Breastfeeding days driftin' away,
To uh-oh those breastfeeding nights
Tell me more, tell me more
Did you see the LC this week?
Tell me more, tell me more
How is your breastfeeding technique?

Went out with baby, for some air
Tried to NIP, hope no one would stare
I nursed my baby under a tree
was able to nurse discreet-ly
Breastfeeding son, let-down begun
But uh-oh those breastfeeding nights

Tell me more, tell me more
Was it latch at first sight?
Tell me more, tell me more
Was he positioned right?
Got to see the hospital LC
Said 6 to 8 wet diapers is what I should see
Got home, nipples where sore
Applied the lanolin, just after four.

Baby swing, just ain't his thing
But uh-oh those breastfeeding nights
Tell me more, tell me more
But you don't gotta gloat
Tell me more, tell me more
Is that a breast pump you tote

Baby nurses, holding my hand
Well he wants his boobs on demand.
Breastmilk is sweet, babies is keen,
We're bonding great, you know what I mean

LLL Meet, mothers to greet
But uh-oh those breastfeeding nights
Tell me more, tell me more
Hows your BF technique?
Tell me more, tell me more
Do your breasts still leak

Kid got older, that's where breastfeeding end's
Now he'd rather just play with his friends
Then I made a solemn vow,
To promote breastfeeding now.

Lactivist teams and their breastfeeding dreams,
But uh-oh those breastfeeding nights

-Charleen
