"Colleen, would you mind sharing what these resulting issues are? I mean, I can posit some in my mind, but I'd like to hear what illnesses are "normal" now because of the large majority of us being FF. Just curious!"
Sure thing, honey! Some of the issues that are now viewed as "normal" or "common" are things such as excessive spit up, constipation, colic, GERD... Yes, it is true that these things can also occur in a breastfed baby... However, when they do, we typically note that these are "not normal" issues... They're usually indicitive of some other underlying issue, and it serves as a symptom to be able to find the problem. However, since these are things that just happen and are "normal" to a

And not that it's anyones business, I had decided weeks ago to BF my second child (due in dec) while my husband is deployed, but you ladies make me not want to do it at all! So with all of your facts and opinions on breastfeeding, it's your attitude that turn people away from it!>>>
A truly informed person will not allow the attitude of a handful of anonymous women on an internet message board affect her decision. This is just silly. Why on earth would you decide you don't want to breastfeed your child because of some strangers you don't find agreeable? Just because you don't like what people say doesn't make it any less of a good decision for your child.

"Actually, I even remember breasts playing a key role in one of the Terminator movies, maybe the third one? I seem to recall a three-breasted woman IIRC."
I think that was Total Recall. :)
Siggy by Tara (tsivec)!
"ETA: I never said my niece was "awful" I was just referring in that one case your "anecdotal evidence" was wrong!"
And you used your anecdote as proof of your argument that breastfed babies are not likely to be healthier than ff babies, against several studies that may not be perfect but have a much greater likelihood of being accurate than your one example. You are guilty of using a relativist fallacy.
"No where in that paragraph did I say breastfeeding wasn't best. Or do you need a reading lesson?"
Wow, now you're going to resort to ad hominem?
"Meaning the debate as a whole is irrelevant to me as far as formula is concerned."
Why on earth are you continuing to post on this board if you find it irrelevant?
"The facts are that breastfeeders are in the minority."
And?
"The majority of mothers feel the same as I do, that its a choice that should be respected."
And for the large part, they are. If you feel disrespected, it is because your posting style is hostile and your argumentation is very weak. I tend to naturally respect people, even on a bb. But your behavior on this bb is not indicative of someone who has done anything to deserve respect.
"If thats saddens to you, then oh well. The numbers speak for themselves."
And what do they say? And how can you prove it?
"You are out numbered, and your anecdotal evidence seems to be irrelevant in the long run. Your movement to scare the population into breastfeeding isn't working."
I guess I better put my swastika away, then. Frankly, I know tons of people who ff (as you say, ultimately they're the majority), and highly doubt they would want someone with your unique debating style speaking for them, as you are clearly attempting to do.
Besides, I think you'll find that the numbers of women breastfeeding have increased pretty dramatically over the last several years as breastfeeding advocates have worked to persuade new mothers to give it a try. As a result, the numbers of U.S. women breast-feeding their babies at least once have more than doubled in the last 15 years- from 36% to 77%. I guess according to you, it's because they're all too scared of our bullying to not try it at least once.

I find it interesting that you have not bothered to respond to any of my posts at this point. Since this is a debate board, I'll claim burden of rejoinder. I haven't read all the posts yet though, so I'll take it back if you respond.

"This is so stupid."
Only because you choose to make it so. I have seen lively, intelligent debate on this and other boards, but it does not involve your style of debate. Sorry.

Proof please. It's not good debate form to spew statements without something to back them up.
Oh, and other numbers that speak for themselves include the fact that FF children as a whole are more likely to suffer childhood illnesses.
And again I ask, why would we CARE about scaring people (hahaha) into breastfeeding? Why would it matter....no profit....

We all better avoid these foods. They could be life threatening. As far as formula goes I haven’t seen anything that says its life threatening. But maybe if I look long enough on the internet, I’ll find someones opinion stating how it threatens babies lives. Then I’ll see it posted somewhere as a truth cause someone else actually believes everything they read on the internet.>>>
To find reliable and accurate information, one only needs to keep their readings to those listed in official medicinal journals.
SUrely you won't argue that your opinion invalidates highly reviewed and crafted studies performed and evaluated by licensed, educated professionals?
