To be quite honest, it would not have surprised me if it was even more. Given that even many babies who are breastfed get a bit of formula at times. Or perhaps they have not been included, if they mostly were breastfed?

I was thinking that myself! The quote I got it from said:

It is estimated that 70% of babies in the United States receive some formula by the time they are 3 months old (www.ewg.org/babysafe). So I imagine if you increased that to 1 year old, the percentage would be higher.

70% having some formula by 3 months sounds closer to the mark. And it would be higher by 12 months. There are very few who breastfeed exclusively for 12 months aren't there? Even some of the people I know who are committed to breastfeeding still seem to use formula occasionally.
