I'm sure some of you are thinking "Huh? They expect us to use THIS??" Take a deep breath and dive right in! This format is a lot different than what we are used to. I'm sure there are some who just think it is icky right now, but please play around with it. I didn't like it the first time I saw it, either. But as I've been playing around with it, I've found some really cool features. I've really gotten used to it & it is growing on me. Soon, it'll be the "norm" and what we are used to. Just hang in there & play around - practice posting, editing (yep, you can edit your message once it is posted now!) - and even check out the cool search feature. Fix up your profile (it is different than the old profiles) & add a little picture by your name.

Another CL has set up a wonderful FAQ on the new board system. You can check it out here:

Honestly, IMO the only saving grace is this "outline format" option. I've been here at iVillage way too long and am too used to the old outline format. I seriously do not like this format but will continue to muddle through and maybe it *will* grow on me. I really prefer the old one. The idea that this never archives bothers me, also. Do the older discussions just fall below when new ones start up, and do we have to search for it in order to do a type of "RTA" if it is an old discussion?

Brook,

As we put new discussions up, the older ones will drop down lower in the list (and to the 2nd, etc page). If you have something more to add to a previous discussion, you can find it and post to it - when you post a reply to it, then that post will move to the top of the list. You don't have to search for a post if you know what it was about or who you want to post to if you don't want to. But, if you want to search, you can now search the board with keywords. Just use the little search box at the top of the board for the subject you are looking for. Right now, you cannot search by username, just buy words in posts.

Thanks! That makes a lot more sense now. As I've been playing with it more it really is growing on me. The only thing I don't like is constantly having to open the "outline view" window when the posts pile up, but it's manageable.
