OK, I don't think anyone really denies that it is ultimately every mom's decision.

I actually made my own disposable *and* re-usable wipes with DD1. With DD2 I just used my reusables and bought disposable ones. ;-)

My re-usable wipes are mostly homemade though some are store bought; they are just basically like those stretch terry baby washcloths. I used to mix up water with a squirt of baby shampoo/body shampoo and a drop or 2 of lavendar and/or TTO in a bottle and squirt on the wipe but after a while I just went to wetting what I needed before changing in plain warm water...it wiped just as well. :-)

I toss the wipes and the diaper all in the wash. :-)

That's cool, Fio! I've never known anyone who made their own wipes before. Thanks for filling me in! :O)

When I made disposable wipes, I used bounty paper towels (they don't tend to turn to mush in water too badly ;-)) and again, soaked them in water with a squirt of baby soap and lavendar/TTO.

I think if you google "home made babywipes" you may find other recipes. ;-)

Now you have me thinking about making my own...I do know how to sew! I have been seriously considering going to cloth for the next baby. I pondered it for about 15 seconds with Liam, and that was it, LOL. Now I am starting to think it's a great idea. Hmmm...maybe I should start a thread down in the Fluff folder....

Aww that's so cute!

Do you make AIO's or something else? I have quite a few styles. I've made a few of my own...in fact that was what I started sewing b/c I had very little experience with sewing and figured if I scrapped an old ragged (frayed around the edges but still absorbant) towel, who cared, and the baby's butt wouldn't care if it was pretty or not. ;-) My first one ended up in the garbage. The next few were fine...not pretty but absorbant enough. After that, I slowly got better and eventually bought some flannel to make some more. And finally set upon sewing from *patterns* later on (and made a few baby pj's and kid outfits).

I no longer have a good sewing machine (sold mine before we left Québec) so if I need more dipes I'll buy a few, but luckily mine are mostly fine. Later on, I actually found several used ones on sale in Québec that I loved, this brand, the Angelik, http://groups.msn.com/Lescoucheslavables/angelikmrehlne.msnw (they require a waterproof cover but they fit really really well and aren't very bulky), and they're still in good standing. I think I paid 50¢ for them each at a used clothing store. :-P

Do you sell yours? I might be interested in trying one if it is particularily cute. ;-) LOL
