OK, I don't think anyone really denies that it is ultimately every mom's decision.

>>For that matter, let's not forget the difference between mathematically significant and clinically significant!
FWIW, I do a kick-butt explanation of NNT and NNH (number needed to treat and number needed to harm) which is helpful in determining just how clinically significant something is ;)>>
I would love to hear it :)
"No, again! I never said mom sits around all day!!"
Did I say you said that?
"
from post 141:
"No, not resent - me but he would find it unfair to put us in a financial rut to quit work and sit around a BF while he works, and does all the chores. """"
Yes, and AGAIN this was in response to post #124 - all i ask is that you read the post i am referring to before posting that i said something
"Otherwise, why would you think there was anything to resent?
""""I'm pretty sure she was referring to you saying that you sah to bf would put you in a financial rut, even though you could sah and ff."""""
"for the record, I never said that formula was closer to BM than it was to evaporated milk. I said that formula was closer to BM than evaporated milk was."
Actually, there is absolutely NO evidence of this. There has never EVER been even ONE controlled study that compared the differences of children fed today's formula, to children fed a mix of evaporated milk and karo syrup, or children fed a more "sophisticated" home-made mix, or children fed just straight cow milk. *Common sense* and some anecdotes tell us that straight cow milk is detrimental to many children...causes constipation and anemia and what-not but if there is absolutely *NO PROOF AT ALL* that any of these 4 substances are different in terms of outcomes for the majority of children in terms of illnesses and death rates, why is it that if you go see a doctor and say "I'm not going to BF" he'll most likely say "ok that's your choice", but if you say "I've done a lot of research and am going to feed a home made mix of formula" he will probably call CPS on you and tell you you are an awful parent for even considering such a thing? When there is NO PROOF at all and yet there are reams and reams of studies proving that formula fed infants fare more poorly in many areas (health-wise particularily) than BFed infants? I realize *you* don't believe them, but does this mean doctors don't believe them either? And if they don't, why should they be concerned about substances one could feed a child that have *no* proof that they are either damageing or not damageing?

I'm going to have to wing the numbers a little, b/c I don't have them handy, but here goes.
I start with number needed to harm.

"I was ASKED about resentment - I did not initially bring it up.
"""Ok. In going back through I see where the confusion arose. So, you are saying that you *could* bf without quitting work, without financial ruts, and without making your poor dh do everything while you sit around.... awesome """
Of course I could BF without all of that - but my choice was to FF.
But these threads do get confusing....lol but i don't take anything personal - it is a debate board right? lol just wanted to clarify
Totally OT - but you mentioned you love kitchen gadgets - i work for a company that designs and markets all the major brands of them - so we could have a whole conversation on all the new items and such! lol
