OK, I don't think anyone really denies that it is ultimately every mom's decision.

Didn't we already have a debate about the hazards of water (H20)? Here's the link to your morning humor:

I think comparing bfing to organic eating is a good comparison...IF we hold organic as the standard of what we are "supposed" to eat and recognize that processed foods are, for the most part worse off than the organic counterpart. If we hold the processed foods as the standard of what is "good" for us,

The BIG difference is that each of these *experiments* are just that experiments with one subject each & they are anecdotal at best.

Also wanted to make two points about the water issue.

First, when BF advocates point out that contaminated water used to make formula in many 3rd world countries leads to a significant death rate, the FF advocates point out that that "doesn't apply in the US!" presumably b/c our water supply is better.

You could answer that by looking up what they do to cows milk to make it suitable for human babies to consume.

"OK...I can get behind substandard nutrition, but not poor or bad."

Fair enough.

"My friend, babies cannot eat McDonald's, but they can "eat" formula!"

Did anyone try to say that it could?

OK I do see your point...BUT (always but ;-)) your milk can get *better* too, if you eat a totally healthy diet that is full of organic produce. How many moms really do that, and "never" eat McD etc.? Some do! Some are total granola freaks. ;-) But I'm not. My milk is still the standard, and very good quality milk...miles above formula. So...I'm thinking a "healthy homecooked meal that is complete", like someone (Toni?) suggested perhaps brown rice and green beans and grilled chicken, the beans being organic but not the rest, would be a good valid base-point for "BM" comparaison. :-) BM of a mom who eats somewhat healthily but not totally organic all the time. ;-)
