Ok, we need to get back to debating - so I typed "formula is evil" into Google & found most were saying,

I can see that point - they should have disclaimers like at the end of the other drug ads saying "may cause ear infections, increased risk of obesity, asthma, diabetes and there are some reported deaths, talk to your physician about infant formula to see if it's right for you

Did I break any of those rules? Since you said I don't know what a debate was (I forget the exact quote).

You are joking, right?

>>> I said it simply because you were saying some would be offended by the message of this board, and that the facts should be toned down or softened because of need versus want. To me, that sounds like someone searching for a support board, not a debate board. <<<<

I wasn't saying that - I said some might get the impression FF is evil - because that is what the OP was about - people saying it IS evil. I was talking about where that thought of "evil" might come from.

Do you have any particular post where it sounded like I was seeking support? What kind of support did you think I was searching for?

>>>I never said you didn't know what a debate was, I said you seemed to prefer opinion over science and that wasn't going to fly around here. I suggested you either choose to back up your ideas with facts and science first, or state them as opinion and expect them to be challenged.<<<

That *I* prefer opinion over science and that I back up my ideas? Where did I not back something up where I was asked to? Where did I state opinion as fact?

Your comments to me: "I think you are failing to see that this is a debate board, a place where facts and science come before opinions" and "You seem to want to discuss opinions and not science. An opinion cannot truly be debated, it is personal, not necessarily based on anything."

These statements are not supported by the debate advice table you provided.

My observation that your respose was more emotional than rational was only in relation to how you view donor milk.

"I thought there not being availability in her country was a rational objection."

Yes, it would be in having to actually make the decision.

"I have since read more about it (see previous links provided). It seems M2M milk is not recommended by AAP and others. At least not according to several sources I read (and posted for others to read)."

Strictly speaking, neither is formula, except in rare circumstances (which they mostly list)

Maybe if it was available in her country it wouldn't seem such an odd concept - but even then, is having two arguments against it a bad thing? One emotional and logistic?

"At this time, there are only six human milk banks in the United States. While the number of infants and children who depend upon donor milk for health or survival is small, their numbers are greater than is the supply available from these milk banks." http://www.womenshealth.gov/breastfeeding/index.cfm?page=359

There are nine in the US: http://www.hmbana.org/index.php?mode=locations

All I can tell you is what I know as a donor to two different milkbanks in the US.

Huh? The links I provided (a couple) warned against using M2M milk much more adamantly than even kellymom or AAP warn against formula (from what I've seen).

Do you have a link to back this up?
