Actually, I think putting it in terms of 2% up to 6% is making is appear much smaller than it really is.

It amounts to -(what did I come up with LOL) ADDITIONAL 180,000 infants in the US annually.

I think it IS significant, especially when you look at from 2 to 6 % in ear infections, and another in obesity, another for diabetes, and so on and so on.

>>>And what exactly is your problem with M2M donations? Anecdotal, sure, but I've given my 2 year old "doner" milk through her feeding tube. It was from a mother I know who is pumping for her own tube kiddo. What's wrong with the other poster seeking a similar situation?<<<<

Its not recommended at all by the AAP or LLL, there is a basis for concern. You are comfortable with it, so it's great that you can do it. The other poster and myself are not be comfortable with it, so we would/did not do it. I don't have a "problem" whatever that means.

>>>I obviously should have read ahead. The problem with M2M is the "ick" factor. Gotcha.<<<

Yes, and please take that up with the LLL and the lactivist blogger I linked who felt the same. The ick factor for me isn't where it comes from (I'm a bf'ing mom too) it's the risk of contaminants, untested diseases and the like.

It must have been late, I don't know what I was saying that it looks smaller than it really is, that makes no sense.

It would probably be a factor if I was using formula when I could bf'd, knowing I couldn't it wouldn't have made any difference, especially since there is no family history of those medical issues in my own family even among the FF individuals, or where they do occur they occur also among the BF'd individuals.

I know a little bit about this, but keep in mind she did bf'd. Is there a difference when you bf'd initially and then use formula later, do both from the beginning or use formula from the beginning. Or say like one of mine, who got 2 doses of formula in a tube and then bmilk after that?
