That little tidbit came from a *very* readable book called "From Bialystock to Birkenau" written by a survivor. A gentleman who says he survived on *only* slivers of potato during his last weeks, when he was too weak to do more than suck on a wafer-thin piece of potato to begin with (when he started having food again; since he had been starving for so long).
Awww ((((Holly)))) that's so sad to hear. But yeah, don't beat yourself up over it. In 20 years she will absolutely *not* remember those first few minutes but she will remember what a great mom she had! :-)

YES! I agree with this and your other posts about how we try to save too many. It is not natural for other mammals to do this. It is natual, OTOH
