I think it's a bad idea for pregnancy to be considered a disability because of what it will do to delivery a baby.

I'd red a rebuttal that was totally absurd. The fellow's contention was that since you can't be fired for a disability, women would get pregnant to keep their jobs.

That is a pretty bad argument! While employers can't fire someone for being pregnant, a lot of states are employment at will (I live in one), so employment can be terminated for any reason or none at all at any time. I think if an employer really wants to fire someone, they can come up with any number of reasons that will look OK on paper. There were 2 or 3 ladies in my expecting club a few years ago who lost their jobs while pregnant. One was sure it was because of her pregnancy, but she couldn't prove it.
