Tiger, I really appreciated your reply, thank you.

I understand all you said. I have two points to make:

1. Is the percieved 32% a result of our current existence here? No, certainly not. But it could well be the result of our historical board and others like it. Circ debate boards, I believe, once played a huge part in creating the burdgeoning Intact America. But I challenge you to find one today anywhere on the internet with the infuence they had before. I refer specifically to debate.

2. Now consider the Ripple Effect you spoke of. This does exist, I agree - but much less frequently on a circ debate board today. Ours is a prime example. We haven't

“Debating circumcision has little impact now - hence this board has not had a pro-circ contribution for a very long time. This board has lost its usefulness as has the equivalent at BabyCenter.”

That would have been better, but Boteach always manages to go off like that.

It wasn’t a debate because the Rabbi constantly went off on wild tangents, and without a moderator there was nobody with the authority to control him. When the audience pointed out the lack of focus on the subject being debated it only resulted in criticism by the Rabbi and continued lack of focus.

What this failed debate does show is the importance of a skilled moderator to keep both sides on track.

BC's Circ Debate board is a little more active than ours, but I suspect that's only because BC has developed a website that loads fast and keeps its speed going throughout posted comments. It would be faster still without its advertisements, but they are needed to finance it - just as iVillage does.

The difference is the respective bandwidth between the two, I think. I have a fast broadband connection - not the best, but fast, Yet every visit I make here leaves me waiting an age before even the the site itself fully loads. And I have to wait patiently for any post I make to show. BabyCenter has NO such problems.
